Germany goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is enjoying life at Barcelona after making the step up from Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach last summer.

Ter Stegen, who has four caps at senior level for his nation, was speaking to the Hamburger Morgen Post about life with the Catalan giants.

“I feel very comfortable at this club and hope to have a good time here, although I’m not number one at the moment and it’s not an easy situation,” he revealed.

“I was welcomed when I arrived yet nobody puts out the red carpet for you. It would be naive to believe it is easy to be the undisputed number one here but that’s my aim.

“It’s hard to accept I’ve spent all season on the bench so obviously I want to play more in the future.”

The highly-rated 22-year-old also insisted that he does not consider himself a superstar, despite his growing worldwide reputation.

“I’m not a superstar. I’m a normal person. I’m not Justin Timberlake or Kanye West. To me they are superstars,” he said.

With Manuel Neuer in firm control of the Germany number one shirt, Ter Stegen is unlikely to turn out for the senior side unless his rival becomes injured. However, he did recently make his ninth appearance for the U21 side in a 3-2 friendly defeat to England at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.
