Luis Enrique says that he believes the best is still to come for his Barcelona side following their comfortable 5-1 aggregate victory over PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Neymar scored twice as Barça cantered to a 2-0 victory in the second leg on Tuesday, taking Enrique to his 42nd victory in 50 games in charge at the Camp Nou - a new record for the club.

Though he stressed that it “now needs to be followed by titles”, Enrique praised his side's performance, saying:

“We made a great start to the game and the players understood exactly what was wanted of them. Their attitude and the pressing they did is good news for us.

“In the first half our pressing was perfect and that needed all the players to contribute.

“We are good defending, whether that be pressing high up the pitch, closing down in the middle or defending in our area”.

After talk of a potential crisis earlier in the season as his side struggled and rumours circled of a rift with Lionel Messi, Enrique has steadied the ship admirably and Los Culés hold a two-point lead at the top of La Liga as well as their customary place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“I’d like to think the best is still to come," he continued. That’s what the players have been working for since the start of the season, to be in the fight for titles.

"The league is difficult because there are other teams up there, there’ll be three other top teams in the Champions League semis and there’s another finalist in the Spanish Cup”.

“Our objective is to be amongst Europe’s best -that’s to be expected with the players I’ve got and the work they’re putting in. Now our objective is to be better than the team we play in the semi-finals.

“The fact that Barça have been in 8 of the last 10 Champions League semi-finals shows we are one of Europe’s top clubs, and what’s more we have our own individual style of play”.

The draw for the semi-finals is due to take place at 11AM BST on Friday 24 April, from the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
