Javier Hernandez, on-loan from Premier League side Manchester United, has publicly stated that he has never scored a more important goal than his 88th minute winner against city rivals Atlético Madrid in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final, second-leg tie at the Bernabeu last night.

The Mexican striker has endured a frustrated spell watching on from the substiutes' bench for the majority of fixtures thus far this season, but injuries to his fellow attacking team-mates earned him three consecutive games for Los Blancos, with his goal meaning that Carlo Ancelotti's men have beaten Atlético for the first time this campaign, in EIGHT matches.

He had the following to say, to Canal Plus: "It's a Madrid derby and recently these matches have not brought many positive moments as Real hadn't won one since the Decima win in last season's Champions League final. It might have been me who scored the goal but it belongs to everyone - those who have had confidence in me, my team-mates and my family.

This goal is for all of them. This is the most important goal of my career, yes, because only the present is important. I might have scored other important goals in my career, but what matters is the present. This gives me confidence and Cristiano Ronaldo gave me a great assist. Atlético are truly a worthy rival. Thank God we got the win we deserved, though.

Meanwhile his temporary boss Ancelotti was full of praise for Chicharito, saying: "He was a fantastic solution. He played really well and with great intensity. He deserved it as he hasn't played a lot this season. When I told him he was playing, he was ready. He was really professional, I am happy for him.
