Real Madrid's Colombian midfielder James Rodríguez has issued a rallying cry ahead of Los Blancos' Champions League semi-final second leg at the Bernabéu next week.

Current holders Madrid lost 2-1 to Italian champions Juventus in Tuesday night's first leg in Turin, with goals from Carlos Tevez and former Madrid striker Álvaro Morata condemning the Spaniards to defeat in a sub-par performance.

But World Cup star Rodríguez says that home advantage can be enough for Madrid to overturn the deficit, with a 1-0 win enough to see his side into a second consectutive final.

“The Bernabéu has to be on fire and we must go for the kill because this wasn’t a bad result,” he told Televisión Española.

“We need to have faith because we’re playing in front of our fans in our stadium. I think the Bernabéu crowd have really got to get behind us.”

With Rodríguez hitting the bar from point-blank range with a diving header following an intricate team move, the 23-year-old claims that Juve "rode their luck" at times as Madrid grew into the game following Cristiano Ronaldo's equaliser.

But, with a tricky weekend tie with Valencia to come in La Liga before the second leg, Rodríguez feels his team-mates must now put the disappointment of defeat behind them.

“I think we have to put this behind us and think about next Wednesday. It’s going to be difficult because they’ll sit back and they are strong, but we are at home and we need to go all out for the win.

“They sat back tonight and it’s tough against an Italian team, but our hopes of reaching the final are still alive,” he asserted.
