Today, Barcelona announced that Pedro Rodríguez has signed a new deal that extends his stay at the Nou Camp to June 2019.

His buy-out clause will also remain at €150 million, a price that was first established in the contract he signed back in 2011, which he was still under before this new deal.

Pedro's contract was due to run out at the end of June of next year and, with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez understandably being Luis Enrique's preferred front three at Barcelona, his playing time was limited in the season just gone, meaning numerous big clubs had been linked with a move for the Spanish international.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool were just three of the teams rumoured to be monitoring the 27-year-old, who managed six goals and six assists in La Liga this term in spite of his lack of opportunities on the pitch.

However, despite starting just 15 of Barcelona's 38 league games in the 2014/15 campaign, Pedro has opted to stay at the Nou Camp and fight for a place in the team by putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal.

Pedro has been with Barcelona since he was a teenager, joining them from his local club CD San Isidro at 17 years of age. Since making his first-team debut in 2008 as a 21-year-old, he has played 317 games for the Catalan club, scoring 98 goals. He has won 19 trophies in his eleven years with them, including the UEFA Champions League twice and La Liga crown five times.
