Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli has revealed to Algerian journalists that he would open to a contract extension, with his current deal at the Mestalla set to expire at the end of the season.

The Algerian is entering his fifth season as a Valencia player, having spent the 2011-12 campaign on loan at Almeria, and has been rumoured with a move away to FC Barcelona, though the winger refuses to comment on such conjecture.

Feghouli netted six times last term, and laid on a further six assists, as Valencia creeped into fourth place and qualified for the Champions League

Focused on the campaign ahead

Speaking to the Algerian press while serving on international duty, Feghouli revealed that his agent was working on an agreement withthe  club and that he hopes both sides can reach a conclusion, but his attention remains firmly on the season ahead.

“How did I learn about Barca’s interest?" he added. "From the Press, like everyone else. I can’t comment on a rumour or a newspaper article. If there was official contact I might have reacted."

The Algerian went onto add that he leaves the business side of the game to his agent and is "focused on what happens on the pitch."

An integral member

Profiting from the departures of Juan Mata and Vicente Rodriguez, Feghouli quickly earned a starting berth under then-head coach Unai Emery.

While racking up awards in his native land, the Algerian started on 23 seperate ocassions during the 2012/13 campaign, but it was the following campaign where he set a personal high for assists.

Eight times he laid on his teammates to finish as the nimble winger's importance grew alongside Valencia's, who were denied a spot in the Europa League final by a last-second Stephane M'Bia header

A vital season lies ahead with Champions League action commencing on September 15.
