Three days after victory over Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League, Atletico Madrid travel north to Eibar as they aim to return to winning ways after last weekend's 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona.

Form

Eibar, whose place in this season's top-flight came at the expense of Elche, have been in inspiring form since their league campaign commenced against Granada.

The Armeros are yet to taste defeat this term, claiming a historic scalp against Athletic Bilbao on matchday three.

They dropped their first points of the season in a stalemate with Malaga last weekend and will be looking to preserve their immaculate home form when Atleti roll into town on Saturday evening.

Damningly, however, Diego Simeone's side will travel to the Ipurua seeking to avenge last weekend's disappointment.

Generally, though, Atleti have begun the campaign in blistering form, scoring three unanswered against Sevilla in the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Previous meetings

Last season's encounters can be cast in a positive light for Saturday's hosts.

In only their second top-flight fixture since their inception, Eibar's creditable 2-1 defeat in the Vincente Calderon threw up a myriad of positives.

In a rain-soaked return fixture in January, Atleti prevailed courtesy of Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian, who has recently departed to Juventus, netted a brace on the evening, with Antoine Griezmann grabbing the third.

Team news

Goalkeeper Xabi Irureta has been given the green light and will return to the substitutes bench after dislocating his finger during the summer months.

Forward Borja, a second-half substitute in their goalless draw with Malaga, could face his parent club.

Filipe Luis, in the meantime, is expected to return to the starting line-up for the visitors while fears that Diego Godin may miss out have been allayed after tests on knee came back clear.

Fernando Torres may be given the nod ahead of Jackson Martinez after the Colombian's midweek exertions in Turkey, though Simeone has hinted at a possible partnership in his pre-match comments.

Probable line-ups

Eibar: Irureta, Ramis, Capa, Alonso, Luna, Escalante, Garcia, Keko, Gonzalez, Junca, Enrich.

Atletico Madrid: Oblak, Juanfran, Jose Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis, Saul Niguez, Gabi, Tiago, Koke, Griezmann, Fernando Torres.

Verdict

Simeone's side have began the campaign strongly -- Barcelona defeat notwithstanding -- and boast enough to stave off the threat of Eibar. Fernando Torres reaffirmed his importance to the side with his second-half strike last weekend while Simeone also retains the option of Jackson Martinez on the bench. The densely populated Ipurua may have proven tricky for Athletic Bilbao already this term, but Atleti boast considerably more guile.
