After struggling in the first half, Barcelona finally broke through against Levante and put four past them in the second half to cruise to a 4-1 victory. Now they will take on a Celta Vigo team coming off a big win over Sevilla

Form

Barcelona are coming in to this match still undefeated in La Liga. They now sit at the top of the table with 12 points, two points ahead of second place Real Madrid.

Squad depth was something that was pointed as a weak point for the Catalans and many pointed to that as their reason to not repeat as trebele winners this year. But when Luis Enrique inserted the likes of Sandro and Munir as the forwards with Leo Messi in the midfield, everything seemed to work as normal. Luis Suarez was given the day off and the La Masia products worked well with Neymar up top. In a age where La Masia seemed to be at its weakest with players being sold away from the academy, it was nice to see new La Masia products get some playing time and playing well.

It was a huge win for Celta Vigo this past weekend as they beat defending Europa League winners Sevilla 2-1 and are now in great position in the standings. They now sit in 4th with 10 points from 4 games. Right now, Celta Vigo would be qualify for Europe and it would be a huge step for the club. Although it is highly unlikely that they will maintain 4th, everyone is hoping for a feel good story and Celta Vigo seems like the main candidate for that type of story.

Key Players

The key player for Barcelona is again goalie Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. We mentioned midweek that the German goalie was in need of a bounce back performance against Levante and he didn't exactly bounce back. All was well until a simple Levante cross forced Ter Stegen to come off his line and he went to punch it away. The problem is that he completely missed the punch and gave the ball straight to Casadesus who slotted it home to pull one back for Levante.

It was a poor mistake from a goalie that has been prone to errors like these. He makes routine errors, but makes saves nobody expects him to make. It's a perplexing situation.

The key player for Celta Vigo is Nolito. He scored the opener in their win - Sevilla and is their key player in attack. He has been linked to a move to Barcelona, so it is a perfect chance for Barcelona to assess a future transfer target. He also will be facing a Barcelona back line that has been leaky as of late. If Nolito can cause problems for Javier Mascherano and the back line, Vigo could be able to steal a result against Barcelona.

Teams News

La Liga president Jaiver Tebas warned that if Catalonia declared independence from Spain, Barcelona would not be apart of La Liga and may have a independent Catalonia league formed instead.

It would be a huge blow to Barcelona as finances in Catalonia wouldn't be able to afford all the world class players they have right now.

Barcelona is also asking FIFA to allow them to play Arda Turan as soon as possible. With Rafinha out for six months, Barcelona are even weaker in the midfield and will look to bring in the former Atletico Madrid player.

What They're Saying

"But one that I like and I think could play here is Coutinho. He has the style of Barcelona," said Neymar at a public event. He says that Coutinho would be a perfect fit in the midfield. With Andres Iniesta on the decline, Barcelona need another playmaker in the midfield. They have been linked to the likes of Paul Pogba and recently brought in Ivan Rakitic. Coutinho would be a fun player to watch at the Camp Nou and he could be a player Barcelona target in the January.

"if Spain breaks, La Liga breaks" La Liga president Jaiver Tebas tweeted on Monday.

With the recent talks of Catalan breaking away from Spain, the state of FC Barcelona hangs in the balance.
