Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed Kevin Mitchell and Lee Selby will both have world title shots when headlining an action-packed card at London’s O2 on May 30.

Selby will take on undefeated Russian Evgeny Gradovich for the IBF featherweight strap, while Mitchell will challenge Jorge Linares for the WBC world lightweight title.

Anthony Joshua will also face the biggest test of his career on the night, as the heavyweight lines up with experienced American Kevin Johnson.

30-year-old Mitchell last beat Daniel Estrada by total knockout on January 31, and will go into the bout with a record of 39 wins and 2 draws, 29 of those victories by knockout. Venezuelan Linares, on the other hand, heads into the fight with 38 wins and 3 draws, last beating Javier Printo in December 2014.

Hearn commented on the latest fights, saying: "Kevin Mitchell I believe, is one of the most talented fighters in British boxing and he’s also one of the most likeable fighters in British boxing. He lives and breathes the sport and that is what you have to do to achieve at the highest level.

"Kevin really has an opportunity to go out and blow the whole lightweight division apart by beating Jorge Linares and the support he will receive at the O2 will be fantastic. He's a West Ham boy who put in a wonderful performance against [Daniel] Estrada on January 31. For someone like Jorge Linares to come, and for Kevin Mitchell to get that opportunity again, is big. I believe that finally he will fulfil his dream of becoming not just champion of the world but the WBC lightweight champion of the world."

20 wins from 21 fights for Selby sets him in good stead as he takes on Gradovich – who has 19 wins and a single draw to his name, after the 28-year-old last drew with Jayson Velez in November 2014.

Hearn added: “Since Lee Selby has joined up with us he’s been absolutely punch-perfect. He’s actually the favourite going into the Gradovich fight which goes to show what people think of Lee Selby. Gradovich is a top fighter. He’s coming here as the champion but Lee Selby is someone that I believe can go on and become a real great of British boxing and May 30 is his night.”

Watford-born Joshua, who took gold at the London 2012 Olympics as a super heavyweight, remains unbeaten with ten wins and ten knockouts. Nevertheless, Kevin will be a monumental climb for the 25-year-old, boasting 29 wins, six defeats and a one draw.

Hearn continued: "Kevin is a big step for Anthony Joshua and signifies his first real challenge in the pro ranks. He brings personality and attitude as well as plenty of ring craft - I'm buzzing for this show already and fans can expect plenty of other major announcements for the card.”

Anthony Joshua will first fight on April 4, with his opponent at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle yet to be confirmed.
