France are the latest country to have unveiled their squad for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in England.

Head coach Philippe Saint-Andre's men are currently on a high after defeating England in Paris over the weekend, and all 15 starters from the win have been selected in the final squad.

One of the big names to have missed out on selection is fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc, who has been overlooked in favour of Remi Tales and veteran Freddie Michalak.

Backline short of World Cup experience but full of stardust

Saint-Andre's squad, looks markedly different to the one Mark Lievremont took to New Zealand, with Morgan Parra the only back to be selected for the 2011 & 2015 tournaments.

Michalak, of course, was one of France's main men in 2003 & 2007 before his surprising return, whilst certain members of the forward pack including Nicolas Mas and Thierry Dusautoir have plenty of Rugby World Cup games under their belts.

For what France lack in experience from numbers 9-15, they make up for in world class talent.

Yoann Huget has to be in the conversation when talking about the best wingers in world rugby, whilst Wesley Fofana has ripped apart many opposition defences on the international scene as well as in club rugby when playing for Clermont Auvergne

History reads well for French chances

Over the past four World Cup's, France have reached at least the semi-finals on each occasion making them perenial contenders when it comes to the latter stages.

In a predominantly European World Cup pool, France will take on fellow Six Nations sides Italy and Ireland, as well as matches against Romania and Canada where they will have to be at their best from the get-go.

Starting against the Italians at Twickenham in a must-win game, les Blues then end their pool matches against the Irish in Cardiff in what could be one of the most important pool matches in the competition.

The French will be confident of qualification following their strong showings against England in the warm-up games, where in particular the pack looked to be firing on all cylinders.
