Former top ten player Juan Monaco of Spain has upset his countryman and third seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the last sixteen of the ATP 250 event in Gstaad.
Monaco won the match 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 and improves his head to head to 6-2 against the 32nd ranked Garcia-Lopez.
Now ranked 105 in the world, Monaco has struggled since last year's Gstaad event when he was ranked 30. This year, though, he has reached two other quarter-finals in Sao Paolo and Dusseldorf, both also held on the clay.
In the next round, Monaco will face Thomaz Bellucci. The 93rd ranked Brazilian leads their head to head 2-1.
