Saturday, 9th May 2015, the responsables for the defeat of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova and Svetlana Kuznetsova are going to meet each other at 4:30pm GMT and fight for the Mutua Madrid Open title.

Petra Kvitova, ranked 4th on WTA, had already won a title this season, in Sydney. She is with a win/loss record of 18-5 this season. The Czech made a stop on tournaments this year since she lost in Doha quarterfinals to Carla Suarez Navarro on February until Fed Cup semifinal on April where she led her team to the final. The reason of her stop it was her exaustion. Kvitova said: "I was exhausted and empty". After this she said she was ready to return and there she is, she defeated Serena Williams for the first time in her career to make the final in Madrid.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, ranked 29th on WTA, is having a regular season (won seven matches and lost 9 until she got here), but she "killed it" in Madrid. This season she had only defeated top players like Agnieska Radwanska, Angelique Kerber and Julia Goerges (that are/were not in good shape), but since she arrived at the spanish capital she already upset her compatriot Ekaterina Makarova (ranked 8th), Garbine Muguruza (rising star and ranked 20th), Samantha Stosur (ranked 26th), Lucie Safarova (ranked 14th) and world number three Maria Sharapova. As you can see, Kuznetsova is fighting hard to get back on the track and return to the top of the women's tennis hierarchy.

Petra leads their head-to-head 3-1 but was the Russian the winner of their last meeting, that happened in the round of 32 on last year's French Open (Kuznetsova d. Kvitova 6-7(3) 6-1 9-7). This was the only time they met on clay, the other times they met (when the Czech won) was on hard court. Looking at their previous match score and considering that it was on clay, it is expected a great match between these top players.

My prediction is Petra in three sets.
