Wolves will welcome Southampton to Molineux on Saturday, as both sides prepare for their sixth Premier League game of the season.

Bruno Lage will be hoping to see his side put in a much better performance than what was produced in midweek.

A drab 0-0 draw away to Bournemouth sums up the issues surrounding the club, a lack of goals.

Boring football and poor quality in attack means Wolves have scored just two league goals so far, the joint worst in the league.

With the transfer window now shut, Lage will hope his squad can gel together and get Wolves' season up and running.

Southampton come into the fixture on the back of an impressive win against Chelsea in midweek. The Saints showed fighting spirit to come back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 at half-time.

The youthful squad have taken the Premier League challenge in their stride, picking up an important victory at Leicester City just two weeks ago.

Both of their victories have saw Hasenhuttl's men have less than 40% possession, something they may have to deal with again in the West Midlands.

Wolves

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to worry about. The departure of both Leander Dendoncker and Luke Cundle means that Connor Ronan is likely to be fourth choice in midfield.

New signing Boubacar Traore is not expected to arrive in England until next week.

Bruno Lage confirmed that Sasa Kalajdzic has not trained with the first team yet, due to match preparation and recovery training in the week.

The Austrian is still expected to be in the matchday squad, although Raul Jimenez should still start.

Southampton

Southampton were one of the most active teams across Europe on deadline day.

Jan Bednarek, Oriol Romeu and Yan Valery all departed the South Coast, while four new signings joined Ralph Hasenhuttl's squad at St Mary's.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sam Edozie and Juan Larios are all expected to be available this weekend, although late paperwork on the transfer of Duje Caleta-Car means he is a doubt.

As for the existing squad, Romeo Lavia is expected to miss at least six weeks.

The youngster scored his first goal in professional football in the 2-1 win over Chelsea before leaving the field with an injury.

  • Likely Line-ups

Wolves

Sa; Semedo, Collins, Kilman, Jonny; Neves, Moutinho, Nunes; Podence, Jimenez, Guedes (4-3-3)

Southampton

Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Salisu, Perraud; Ward-Prowse, Diallo; Elyounoussi, Aribo, Armstrong; Adams (4-2-3-1)

  • Key Players

Ruben Neves

What can be said about Ruben Neves that has not been said before.

When he plays well, Wolves play at their best. Neves' defensive ability has proved crucial to a Wolves side that has been more open at the back.

The Portuguese international is adept at breaking up play and starting attacks of his own.

On the ball, Neves is world class. His cross-pitch diagonal passes are a joy to behold.

The arrival of Matheus Nunes put less emphasis on Neves to join attacks, giving him freedom to drop slightly deeper and dictate his sides play.

If Neves can replicate his sensational performance against Newcastle, Southampton will struggle to contain him.

James Ward-Prowse

Similarly to Neves, James Ward-Prowse has technical quality that other players can only dream about.

Ward-Prowse's set-pieces are some of the best in Europe, with his pin-point accuracy complementing his clean striking ability.

Southampton can become a real threat from set-pieces on Saturday if their captain can provide his trademark high-class crosses.

The Saints' skipper also does a solid job in open play, looking to break up and dictate the game, just like his opposition counterpart.

Ward-Prowse will look to sit ahead of his defence and block the onrushing runs of Nunes. The Englishman will have fond memories of the ground, having scored one of the goals of the season there in January.
