Aston Villa's latest signing Jordan Amavi spoke to the Villans club website today, before his first training session following his £8 million move from French side Nice which was confirmed over the weekend.

The Birmingham based outfit had a double unveiling for Amavi and midfielder Idrissa Gueye over the weekend after the latter signed from Lille for a fee in the region of £9 million.

Excited to start

Amavi put pen to paper on a five-year-deal and admitted he "can't wait" to get started and was "relishing" meeting his new teammates and "getting to know them."

He also admitted that he can't wait to "get out on that training field" and get started on preparations for next season where Villa will hope to better last season's 17th placed finish.

The player said he was keen to "make a bond" with the Villa Park faithful and wanted to make them "proud." He also wanted them to see him as a "good player for the team."

Wants to be a fan favourite

The 21-year old knows just how important fans are to the club just like they are "at every football club."

He also said how he enjoys having "his photo taken" with fans or signing autographs. It's something he takes "seriously", he said.

The Frenchman wishes to "connect and be a fan favourite" and says he will bring his "combative nature" to the team and "will fight for them ( the fans ) every match" he continued.

Happy to be there

Amavi further told the club website that the "great welcome" he had from everyone is "really encouraging" for him.

"It feels magnificent" and "fantastic" to be apart of a "great club in the premier league" in Aston Villa he added.

The French youth international declared that the playing in the Premier League, which is both "very exciting and difficult" in his eyes had always been a dream of his.

"The season can't come quick enough" he concluded before taking to the training field and partaking in his first training session as a Villa player.

Possible debut

Amavi may well get his first chance to run out in Claret and Blue on Tuesday night when they travel to Swindon Town in a pre-season friendly.

Aforementioned Idrissa Gueye may also debut as Villa remain in search of their first pre-season victory having lost twice on their tour of Portugal.
