Scott Sinclair has vowed to carry his League Cup form into the Premier League, after bagging a hat-trick for Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

Sinclair's hat-trick helped Villa to a 5-3 win, albeit after extra time, against Notts County, as they progressed into the League Cup third round.

Villa end the dry streak

The end to end, exciting affair, gave Villa's attack a chance to fill their boots against an inferior opposition, however it is the confidence that they can now take into upcoming league games that will be a big boost to Sinclair and co.

Coming into the game against County, Villa had only scored twice in their opening three Premier League games, with one being an own goal, and the other by virtue of Rudy Gestede heading in from a corner.

With manager Tim Sherwood having splashed out huge amounts of money on attacking talent this summer, it came as a huge concern, which was why Sinclair was so delighted to get back amongst the goals.

Sinclair explained how he was "thrilled to score a hat-trick", and that he belives he can "take this form into the league", ahead of Villa's home game against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland bring the next challenge

He revealed how the team was "looking to bounce back" from their loss to Crystal Palace by putting in a commanding display against the Black Cats, who have only registered one point from their first three league games.

They shared a similar fate to Villa in their own League Cup game, coming away with a 6-3 win against Exeter City. Sinclair commented that "both teams were going at it", and that from a forward's point of view, he hopes "to do so again this weekend".

Acknowledging that his team are in for a "tough, tough" game, Sinclair also pointed out that if they can "play how we know we can play", then getting all three points is entirely possible.
