Stating that signing for Chelsea is a "dream come true" is one way to get the fans on your side, and those were the exact words that new signing Alexandre Pato gave when asked about joining the Blues.

It was a deal that has been rumoured countless times in the past, and it's clear the striker is happy it's finally happened.

With Loic Remy and Falcao struggling to make a real impact at the club, and Patrick Bamford loaned away to Norwich City, there is a real chance for Pato to make a name for himself at the club during his loan period; should he want to a permanent contract in the summer, that's exactly what he will have to do.

Welcome party

Pato has been made to feel "welcome" since his arrival at Cobham, something that he believes is a "big thing" to allow him to get comfortable in his surroundings and with his team mates. This will only translate into the game, as Pato states it will help him to "express [himself] with freedom on the pitch".

He didn't just praise his team mates for the positive welcome, but also his new boss, Guus Hiddink, who introduced him to all the staff from all the different departments.

Hiddink is confident that this positive start has laid the foundations for Pato to "have a great rest of season at Chelsea".

Time in Brazil

Pato has been away from the major limelight of football recently, spending time in his native country, Brazil, with Corinthians. This has led many to state that Chelsea are taking a risk on a player who hasn't played at the top level for a while.

But even though his decision to play in Brazil has been seen as a him showing he isn't good enough to play at the highest levels anymore, Pato doesn't see it that way.

The Brazilian feels he has been able to "learn more about [his] body and physique", which means his fitness shouldn't come into question during his short spell in London.

Whilst he enjoyed his time with Corinthians, Pato is now "very happy to be back in Europe" and is pleased that Chelsea have "opened the doors" to give him the chance to return to the elite level of football.

Ready to contribute

Pato believes he is "very good physically" and that is going to see him in good stead, as players have notoriously found the Premier League difficult to cope with in-terms of the physicality.

It is the level of physicality that is making Hiddink's decision difficult, as to whether or not Pato will be used in this evening's game with Watford. But Pato insists he is "prepared to do [his] best" to help Chelsea. He aims to "have a great time", and hopes it will eventually lead to another contract in the summer.
