Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng is a doubt for his side's fixture at the weekend with Crystal Palace due to concussion, according to BBC Wales Sport.

The South Korea international was subbed off in the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night after a clash of heads with opponent Stephane Sessognon, and could now miss Saturday's game.

Though he did not go to hospital, the short turnaround from the midweek fixture to the weekend one could prove to be too quick for him.

Mild concussion

Ki was subbed off on Tuesday just before half time, with new signing Alberto Paloschi his replacement. The player was stretchered off, but this was simply as a precaution with the situation not that serious.

Swansea provided an update on his state shortly into the second half, tweeting from their official Twitter account that he was "okay" and "just a little concussed."

Speaking after the game, via South Wales Evening Post, manager Francesco Guidolin provided further information, saying that Ki was "well" after a "knock to the cheek."

However, BBC Wales Sport have reported that the player is still a doubt for the weekend's game against Palace as he is suffering from concussion.

Ki's injury to allow another debut?

Just as Ki's withdrawal from Tuesday's game gave new striker Paloschi his debut, his potential absence on Saturday could pave the way for another man to appear in Swansea white for the first time - Leroy Fer.

Fer joined the Swans on loan until the end of the season from Queens Park Rangers on deadline day, with Guidolin needing another midfielder in his squad after the departure of Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle United earlier in the window.

The Dutch international, like Shelvey, comes with a few attitude problems, but with 11 caps for his country - one gained at the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Chile, a game in which he scored - there is not doubting the quality he can bring to the team.
