Everton appear to have turned a corner after recording back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season and Roberto Martinez will be hoping his side continue to move in the right direction when they host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Victories over Newcastle United and Stoke City have improved the Toffee's chances of finishing in the Europa League qualification spot, while West Brom have slipped to 14th in the table after failing to register a win since January 2.

Head-to-head

Everton came from two goals down to beat West Brom 3-2 earlier this season to extend their unbeaten Premier League record against the Baggies to eight games.

The Toffees have won five and lost just one of their last nine Premier League games against the Baggies, although the last two at Goodison Park have ended goalless.

Everton hoping to build on back-to-back league wins

Just one win in the Premier League for the entirety of December and January led to a feeling of frustration around Everton and some supporters losing patience with Roberto Martinez.

However, since throwing away a two-goal advantage in the Capital One Cup semi-final against Manchester City, the Toffees have scored nine goals and conceded none in three straight 3-0 wins after their win over Carlisle United in the FA Cup was followed by victories over Newcastle and Stoke.

Back-to-back league wins for the first time this season must be a moment where Everton finally turn a corner and free themselves of their inconsistency.

If Everton are to gain momentum and consistency, then they need to improve their home form. Roberto Martinez wants Everton to make Goodison Park a fortress in the final months of the season, starting against West Brom on Saturday.

The Toffees have picked up four wins from 13 home league matches this season and have conceded 22 goals at Goodison Park; the only side in Europe's top five leagues to have conceded as many this campaign are Serie A side Frosinone.

However, Everton have improved defensively over recent weeks, with Joel Robles keeping three consecutive clean sheets since replacing the injured Tim Howard in goal. Prior to Robles' spell in goal, the Toffees had kept just six clean sheets in 23 league games this season.

The opposition

West Brom have slipped to 14th in the table just six points above the relegation zone after failing to register a league win since January 2 and they face the difficult prospect of heading to Goodison Park on Saturday with a depleted squad.

However, the Baggies did join Everton in the fifth round of the FA Cup after seeing off Peterborough United on Wednesday night in a penalty shoot-out after the score was 1-1 after 120 minutes of action.

Tony Pulis has not seen his side win away from home since October and their task will not be made an easier with the Baggies ravaged by injuries and possibly jaded after their FA Cup triumph in midweek.

The Baggies cannot consider themselves safe just yet and they will be desperate to back up their progression in the cup with a win against Everton to kick-start their league fortunes.

Team news

Roberto Martinez will make a late decision on John Stones and Tim Howard, who have both missed the last two matches with respective hamstring and knee injuries.

However, continuity has served the Blues well lately and Martinez may opt to keep with the same team that started against Stoke last weekend, especially considering Robles' performances in goal and Phil Jagielka's and Ramiro Funes Mori's formidable partnership in recent weeks.

New signing Oumar Niasse could make his debut after signing for £13.5million from Lokomotiv Moscow on transfer deadline day, while Muhamed Besic is still missing.

Tony Pulis has said he has growing concerns over the club's worsening injury situation after defender Gareth McAuley limped off during their penalty shoot-out win over Peterborough in midweek.

McAuley has joined an ever growing injury list featuring Jonny Evans (hamstring), Callum McManaman (ankle), James Morrison (hamstring), Chris Brunt (calf) and Craig Dawson (foot).
