Watford will host Arsenal in their Premier League fixture this weekend as they continue to look for their first win of the season.

In the recent week Watford have been busy in the transfer window, signing Roberto Pereyra, Younes Kaboul and Daryl Janmaat. Manager, Walter Mazzarri hinted that all three could be involved in the clash.

None of the three have feature so far for Watford, even though Kaboul looked to be likely starter in their midweek EFL Cup clash against Gillingham, however the defender started on the bench Midfielder Pereyra, on the other hand had been waiting for his work permit which arrived earlier this week.

Praise for Pereyra

Last week, Roberto Pereyra joined Watford from Italian giants Juventus for around £10.4m. Since his new boss Walter Mazzarri has heaped praise on his new signing.

Mazzarri brought attention to the attacker’s versatility, commenting that “he can play on the wing, as an external striker and a more offensive player” adding that this is a bonus for Watford as he can “play different roles in different formations, whether it is a 3-5-2 or 4-3-3”. The Hornets manager went on to compliment his new signings “good dribbling qualities” before claiming that Pereyra “is the missing link in our squad”.

New signings need to be “evaluated”

Along with Pereyra the Hornets have recently signed defender Kaboul from Sunderland and Janmaat from Newcastle. Mazzarri stated that he would like the three to be involved in their clash against Arsenal but that does not necessary mean that they will start.

He commented that all three must be “evaluated” as “they just arrived" and Mazzarri “needs to be sure they know what they need to do in the team”. The Italian went on to explain that he “wants to start with the good things we did against Chelsea” and so will “take into consideration the level of people that played against Chelsea”.
