Aston Villa look to repeat their impressive victory on Sunday when they defeated The Red Devils 3-1 at Villa Park in their first game under new boss Unai Emery.

Renowned for his expertise in cup competitions, winning four Europa League trophies already in his managerial career, the former Arsenal manager will be wanting to bring a major trophy to the claret and blue side of Birmingham for the first time since 1996.

The Villans reached the final of the Carabao Cup just three seasons ago under Dean Smith, but stumbled at the last hurdle losing 2-1 to Manchester City.

The Portuguese midfielder hasn't hit the heights he once knew so far this year, but has had time to rest during his suspension and will be looking to prove that his absence was a key factor in United's struggle.

With just two goals and one assist to his name in the Premier League this season, Fernandes needs to prove his doubters wrong and improve his output.

The 28-year-old would really benefit from a good performance this week against The Villans, and a significant contribution in a cup run would stand him in good stead.

He only needs to look at the scintillating displays of Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne to gain the motivation he needs to up his game.

Whether United's no.8 starts or makes a cameo off the bench, plenty of eyes will be on him.

Aston Villa:

Picking up fan-voted Man of the Match awards in both of Aston Villa's last two wins, against United and Brentford respectively, it's hard to look past Leon Bailey as their danger man for this fixture.

The Jamaican was a constant threat to The Red Devils at the weekend, getting in behind the red defence after just seven minutes to put his side a goal ahead.

Bailey is really starting to show why Midlands side signed him just over a year ago with three goals and two assists this season which he'll be keen to improve on.

Playing high up with striker Ollie Watkins worked wonders on Sunday with United struggling to contain the duo, the former Bayer Leverkusen winger will want to replicate his threat and run riot between he opposition's defensive lines.
