Jadon Sancho's first half goal was enough to secure Manchester United a 0-1 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The result sees the Foxes continue their miserable start to the Premier League season, losing four and drawing two.

Questions may well begin to be asked around the future of manager Brendan Rodgers following another disappointing result for Leicester.

On the flip side, the visitors on the day showed more signs of progress with another win on the road.

Story of the match

Jamie Vardy looked to press a short back pass from Christian Eriksen to David De Gea, but the Spanish goalkeeper was able to clear his lines.

Bruno Fernandes found himself in space in the box, but James Justin was on hand to block a poor cross from the Portuguese international to send the ball behind for a corner.

The resulting set pieces from Eriksen were both cleared by the Foxes.

He had a chance of his own soon after, as he was in space on the edge of the box, leaving Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward rooted to the spot.

The shot however was dragged wide of the target by the former Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford midfielder.

The opening 15 minutes had been quite cagey, with the Red Devils dominating the ball, but struggling to find an opening.

The Foxes had been trying to break down the other end, but they had not yet tested De Gea in United's goal.

James Maddison managed to adjust his body to get to the ball first and win a free kick off of Eriksen in shooting range.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had the first shot for the hosts from the free kick as the ball was laid off to him, but the Englishman could only force a comfortable save from De Gea.

Defensive woes for Leicester

Jadon Sancho had the opener for Manchester United in the 23rd minute.

The visitors won the ball out wide, and Fernandes picked out Marcus Rashford, who rolled the ball into Sancho.

The Englishman rounded Ward and tapped the ball into the back of the net to give Erik ten Hag's side the lead.

It was a poor goal for Leicester to concede from a defensive point of view, who looked to have a Wesley Fofana shaped hole in their defence following his departure from the club for Chelsea.

Eriksen had a shot from range, but his effort was saved by Ward with ease.

Diogo Dalot was booked for a foul after needlessly bringing Harvey Barnes down by pulling his shirt.

A through ball had Rashford sprinting towards goal looking to double the lead for Manchester United, but Ward was alert to clear his lines.

Barnes looked to pick out Vardy in a counter attack at the other end, but Raphael Varane was able to intercept the pass.

Rashford managed to cut the ball back to Sancho as the two combined again as they had done for the opener, but this time his effort was blocked.

Barnes curled the ball towards goal from range, but his shot went high and wide of the target.

Justin managed to beat Tyrell Malacia on the right hand side, which led to the Dutchman being booked for fouling the Leicester defender.

Barnes crossed from the other wing in a late flurry of attacks from the hosts, but the delivery was wayward and did not cause any trouble for the United defence.

It was more misery for Rodgers and his side at the break.

His side had struggled to get into the game, and his team trailed 0-1 at the King Power Stadium against a dominant Manchester United team at the interval.

Rashford looked to lay the ball off to Sancho on the edge of the box to start the second half, but the pass was poor and cut out by the hosts.

An improvement from Leicester

Dewsbury-Hall did well to drive up the pitch and win a foul off of Lisandro Martinez, which saw the Argentine defender booked for the Red Devils.

The resulting free kick was well saved by De Gea.

Maddison aimed the ball for the top-right hand corner from range, but the Spaniard got a hand to the ball to keep it out.

There were appeals for a Leicester penalty soon after, as Justin went down in the box but it was waved away by the referee.

Dewsbury-Hall was once again at the heart of a well fashioned opportunity from the hosts, as he crossed towards Barnes at the back post, but he could not quite direct his header goalward.

Luke Thomas was brought down by Rashford for a free kick in a promising position to get the ball into the box, but it was easily cleared by United.

Vardy played the ball back to Maddison, but he could not quite bring the ball under control.

Scott McTominay gave away a foul right on the edge of the box for grappling Maddison, which gave Leicester the chance to shoot.

Maddison took the free kick, but his shot could only find the wall, which was a real waste for the hosts.

Dalot made an important block from a cross to prevent a good opening for the Foxes.

Malacia broke forwards for Manchester United, but he was surrounded by Leicester players and the opportunity came to nothing.

Cristiano Ronaldo looked to cross the ball to Eriksen and have an impact off the bench, but the cross was intercepted.

He attempted a bicycle kick minutes later, but it went just wide of the mark as the game approached the closing stages.

Maddison looked to score a stunning equaliser from range in added time, but it was nowhere near the strike he imagined.

Justin was in space in the box in the dying stages of the game looking to steal a point for the hosts, but he fired over.

Full time saw United secure another win at Leicester's expense.

Despite a second half fight back, the visitors were in control of the first period and were able to keep a clean sheet to secure the win on the day.

Player of the match

It was a game in which no player had a huge impact on the game, making the main choice for player of the match goal scorer Jadon Sancho.

The former Borussia Dortmund man was able to stay calm in front of goal to round Ward and slot the ball home.

He may well have had a few more goals or assists if his combinations with Rashford had been slightly more successful, but it was a good trip to the Midlands for the attacker.
