Both sides will be eager to come out with a result against their noisy neighbours, and take home all three points at Old Trafford this weekend.

This historical fixture has produced countless magical moments over the years, and I am confident that it will be no different this time around.

In 188 meetings between the two sides, it is Manchester United who have the better record, with 77 wins. Manchester City have won on 58 occasions, while the other 53 games have ended in draws.

Manchester United head into the fixture with momentum on their side, following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Charlton on Tuesday.

However, Manchester City will be desperate to come out victorious and potentially close the gap on league leaders Arsenal, who are currently 5 points clear on top of the Premier League table.

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has kept a similar starting lineup in most Premier League games this season, and we expect him to keep the main core of his side.

Lisandro Martinez is expected to start his first Premier League appearance since lifting the World Cup in Qatar, as he was given some time off to celebrate in Argentina. This would lead to Luke Shaw returning to his favoured left-back slot, following some fantastic performances filling in at center-half.

Ten Hag has stated today that Diogo Dalot will be sidelined and Anthony Martial remains a doubt. However the Frenchman should start tomorrow as the number 9 for the Red Devils.

It remains a mystery when Jadon Sancho will return to the Manchester United lineup, but it is certain that he will not feature in this Manchester Derby.

Pep Guardiola's side have suffered a huge blow in the heart of defense, as key player John Stones has unfortunately been ruled out of tomorrow's derby. Stones has had an exceptional run of form, and has played a key role in Manchester City's season so far. The good news is that the 28 year old should be back for Manchester City's next Premier League game as it is only a minor knock that keeps him out of this game.

Rico Lewis has been phenomenal since breaking into the first team, but it is likely that Kyle Walker will be chosen ahead of Lewis as he has the advantage when it comes to experience in big games.

There is a possibility that Joao Cancelo will return to the starting lineup, but we believe that Nathan Ake will start at left-back.

Likely lineups

Key Players

Manchester United- Marcus Rashford

There are no words to describe the revival of Marcus Rashford. From being labeled as "finished" by many football fans last season, he has had arguably his most impressive season of his career.

The 25 year old has been directly involved in 10 goals in the Premier League this season, scoring 7 goals and making 3 assists. He has been instrumental in Ten Hag's side so far and has changed some huge games in important moments.

An honourable mention goes to Casemiro who also has been integral to Manchester United this season.

Manchester City- Erling Haaland

<strong><a data-cke-saved-href='https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2022/12/31/premier-league/1133218-man-city-1-1-everton-gray-stunner-rescues-point-for-everton-at-man-city.html' href='https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2022/12/31/premier-league/1133218-man-city-1-1-everton-gray-stunner-rescues-point-for-everton-at-man-city.html'>Erling Haaland</a></strong> action shot (Photo by Marc Atkins/Getty Images)

Even with the quality in the Manchester City squad, there was only one option to pick. Erling Haaland has been nothing short of spectacular since joining Manchester City.

Haaland has scored an astonishing 21 goals in 16 matches this season, and has taken no time to settle in to life in England.

His strength, power and elite finishing make him almost unstoppable on his day, which we saw in the previous meeting between the two sides, in which Haaland put 3 goals past David De Gea.
