The peloton is 39 seconds behind Steinhauser. The big group is about to catch the chasing group.

Georg Steinhauser survives in the escape. Idar Andersen did not keep up with him after passing Montjuic for the third time.

A new ascent of Montjuic finishes. The gap is reduced; 19" over the chasers and 37" over the peloton, which is led by the INEOS Grenadiers riders.

The leading riders are about to reach the top of the third ascent of Montjuic. 25" ahead of the chasers and 50" ahead of the peloton.

The riders started the descent after passing Montjuic for the second time. The gap between the leading riders and the peloton is 38 seconds. Between the two groups are floating two chasers of the top riders: Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) and Valentin Paret Peintre (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale).

The two now surviving are Steinhauser and Andersen.
Carreer status
There are 40 kilometers left to finish the day. The riders have already passed Montjuic for the first time. Five riders made up the day's breakaway, but only two of them survive now.

Since then, this place has been present in each and every one of the 102 disputed editions of the home cycling race, and this 2024 will be the seventieth edition in which the race starts and/or finishes in Barcelona.
With more than 1,150 kilometers of cycling routes, Barcelona is not only a bicycle-friendly city, but also a stronghold in the organization of major events, such as the Volta a Catalunya and La Vuelta 2023. Volta a Catalunya 2024 - Route of Stage 7
The last day of the Volta a Catalunya brings a route that could be relatively quiet, but with the intense fight for the podium, there is hope for a lot of excitement. The riders will ride through the streets of Barcelona; they must initially climb the third category Coll de la Creu de L'Ordal, and after racing the last two intermediate sprints of the competition one followed by the other in less than 5 kilometers, they will enter a circuit where they must climb six times the Alt de Castell de Montjuic.

Summary of the previous stage
Tadej Pogacar got a new victory in the Volta a Catalunya, this time in the queen stage that reached Queralt with an attack of almost 30 kilometers in which he became unreachable. Egan Bernal and Mikel Landa were in the fight for the podium and the Colombian took third place in the general classification, which had several important movements for the last day.
