McCarthy!
John McCarthy spoke about Rose Namajunas: "The real question is, does she really want to keep doing this? Because we always say, if you're not 100% into it, get out. She doesn't seem to be excited about the fighting game. It doesn't seem to be something she wants to be in. It's just something she's good at. I don't know. We've had fighters here before and they've said that you need to find the right fight that motivates you".Â

Media day: Amanda Ribas
Amanda Ribas also spoke to the press before the fight, aiming to get the belt if she beats Namajunas: "(Beating Namajunas) will mean a lot to me because the camp wasn't easy and I also have a goal in this fight. It means I can get the belt or maybe we can do a BMF (title) with women, because we don't have that. We can show that we don't need to be a bad girl to be a BMF, we need to be a BMF, a warrior, and in all my fights I am a warrior. (I inherited this from my family; my family is a warrior family. My mother and father came from a home with no structure. They are true warriors, so I bring that with me. I know I have all the structure they didn't have, and I'm a warrior because of them.
Media day: Namajunas
On media day Rose spoke about what she expects from the fight, her strategy and also analyzed Amanda Ribas: "I think my experience, my composure and my ability to make calculated decisions in battle. I think my strategy is better in all aspects. I think she has a lot of courage and determination, but I think she does some of the same things, you know? Some of the patterns she uses, and I think my brain is stronger than hers. But other than that, she's very versatile and very talented in many ways."
Stats: Rose Namajunas

This is the highest number in the category and the second highest among all categories, behind only the other Brazilian, Amanda Nunes, who knocked out six opponents in fights for the belt. But it's not just the 'heavy hand' that Rose lives off. She has a 57% takedown accuracy, the third highest in the history of the category.
