FOR THE PLACE

Maxi Meza sees the clash between Monterrey and Chivas as an opportunity to earn a place in Rayados' starting lineup for the match against Inter Miami, which would give him the chance to face Argentine star Lionel Messi on the pitch. However, the Argentine midfielder emphasized that they must first concentrate on the Rebaño before thinking about the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals in Miami against Inter.

THE BOSS SPEAK

Amid the scarcity of opportunities for Mexican coaches in national soccer, Ignacio Ambriz, current Santos head coach, has shared his thoughts on the demands that go beyond tactical preparation in the world of soccer.

In an interview with mediotiempo, Ambriz emphasized that the work of a modern coach is not only limited to the field of play, but encompasses the management of a wide range of extra-sporting aspects. From handling the press to relations with managers, sponsors, players and fans, the coach must be able to manage multiple fronts to achieve success.

DEFENDEING THE RIVAL

On the Televisa program, where the experts discussed the current state of Mexican soccer, the analyst was forceful. The narrator, who is also an analyst, highlighted the firmness with which they stand by their decisions, considering it something worthy of praise.

"There is one thing in which MLS is better than the Mexican League and that is that it maintains its identity. It is a league that was born without promotion or relegation that plays on its calendar and has said 'I am going to be a place on the world map to attract talent', which, yes, is already in the twilight of its career, but it is growing more and more. The Mexican League has betrayed its identity, where there is no longer promotion or relegation, when that was not its way of being. When there are few players who can be trained in lower divisions or promotion leagues".

WHAT'S NEXT

The Mazatlan team will face teams that, like them, are not going through their best moment, which gives them the opportunity to dream of some victories that will bring them closer to Play-In positions. However, Mazatlan will close their regular phase in Hidalgo, where they will face Pachuca, a challenge that will not be easy to overcome.

Upcoming Liga MX games:

- Mazatlán vs. Tijuana, March 29.
- Mazatlán vs. Pumas, 5 April
- Querétaro vs. Mazatlán, 12 April
- Mazatlan vs. FC Juarez, 19 April
- Pachuca vs. Mazatlan, 27 April

NO PROMOTION

Cancun FC, Atlante, Celaya, Irapuato: these are all places that have invested a great deal of money to have a presence in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican soccer. However, it seems that the promotion and relegation door will remain locked until 2025.

This decision stands despite the changes proposed at the Mexican Soccer Federation months ago, which promised to reform the Mexican soccer landscape. Meanwhile, in a context where MLS, Liga MX's main competition, is expanding its reach and will have 30 clubs in its league by next year.

THE STANDING

The Liga MX resumes its activity after the break for the FIFA Date, and Monterrey will seek to consolidate its position at the top of the general table in order to distance itself from its main pursuer, América. With 31 points at stake, Los Rayados are looking to extend their lead in the standings. However, they must be on their guard, as América (25 points) has the capacity to match them in the event of any slip-up on Monterrey's part.

Just behind them are teams such as Toluca (23), Cruz Azul (22), Pachuca (22) and Tigres (21), all of which have a chance of reaching second place if América fails on this or the following fixtures. In addition, the Play In places are occupied by Necaxa (21), Querétaro (17), León (17) and Chivas (16), all with good mathematical chances of advancing directly, but who cannot afford to slip up at any time.

For this match, the player to watch will be Carlos González, Xolos de Tijuana's penalty box killer, who will be looking to be a decisive player for this match and become the player who gives the three points to the border team, also, his vast experience in Mexican soccer makes him a player who can make the difference in these 90 minutes.

Watch out with this player of Mazatlan FC:

Throughout these 90 minutes, the player to watch will be Gustavo Del Prete, center forward of the Mazatlán FC gunners. Gustavo del Prete could not adapt with Pumas, the team with which he arrived in Mexican soccer, however, the Argentinean killer found a better version of himself in the team of the Pearl of the Pacific, finding the goal again and being the decisive man for Mazatlan FC to have a good offensive team, also, his great definition inside the area makes him a danger every time he touches the ball.

Please win already!

The Xolos de Tijuana will once again face a duel as visitors after having received the team from the Comarca Lagunera in the 12th matchday at the Estadio Caliente in a duel where everything seemed to indicate that the local team would finally win the tournament, as at minute 71, Tijuana was leading 2-1. However, the King of Ties did not want to give up his nickname because in the 90th minute, Ronaldo Prieto appeared to score the final 2-2. They have to recover because they were beaten so badly

The Mazatlán team returns to El Encanto Stadium to face one more game in the Clausura 2024, however, this is the opportunity for the team from the Pearl of the Pacific to get three points, as in their last game played in the Liga MX, the team from the Pearl of the Pacific visited the University Stadium of the UANL Tigres and it was the same feline team that made life miserable for Mazatlán, defeating them by a score of 5-1. The felines' goals were scored by Marcelo Flores, Luis Quiñones, Nicolás Ibáñez and Samir. Luis Amarilla scored for Mazatlán. Mazatlán is currently in fifteenth place in the general table with a total of 9 points, the result of 2 wins, 3 ties and 7 defeats.

Halfway through the season

Liga MX continues to advance by leaps and bounds as the 2023/24 season comes to a close. In the blink of an eye, we have gone from Day 1 of the championship to being more than halfway through the season, with the end of the regular tournament already on the horizon, little by little, the teams are beginning to take their positions in what will be another exciting end to the tournament where the teams will be looking for a qualifying ticket to the Mexican football playoffs or to enter the play-offs, but leaving the elimination zone, which currently covers more territory, from 18th to 11th place, is reason to say goodbye to the Clausura 2024. With rounds still to play, the big question is: Who will be the new Mexican soccer champion at the end of the season?
