1890 Sevilla

Sevilla FC is a Spanish soccer club from the city of Seville (Andalusia). It was founded in 1890 after the 25 of January of that same year a series of English and Spanish young people constituted it as a private association of cultural and sporting character. In order to adapt to the current regulations, it was officially registered on October 14, 1905. Thus, the first positions in the club's history, that of founding president, secretary and captain, were attributed to Edward F. Johnston, Isaías White and Hugo Maccoll respectively.

"The Seville Football Club was duly constituted and with its official offices elected."

First winner of a soccer match in the history of Spain.

Almost two months after the foundation of Sevilla FC, the first soccer match in the history of our country took place. At the Tablada racecourse, a place that was once used for the conquest of the city of Seville by Ferdinand III, the Sevillistas faced off against the then known as Huelva Recreation Club (later called Recreativo de Huelva). The match ended in favor of the Red and Whites, who, thanks to Ritson and Yugles, defeated the dean of this sport in Spain in front of 120 people and under the rules of the English Federation. From then on, Rio Tinto, the other team from the region alive at the time, would join the frequent matches played between the Huelva and Seville teams.

Great in Spain and Europe

The 21st century has been Sevilla FC's century. Although in the previous century the first national titles arrived in the form of two Spanish Cups (in 1935 and 1939) and one league (in 1946), the explosion of trophies and success came in 2006 with the first UEFA Cup win over Middlesbrough FC (4-0). After that historic milestone, they have not stopped winning. From the following title to the first European crown, the European Super Cup against Ronaldinho's FC Barcelona by 3-0, until today, the Sevillistas have won another seven times (two King's Cups, one Spanish Super Cup and four UEFA Europa League titles). In addition, Sevilla was recognized by the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) in 2006 and 2007 as the best team in the world.

Accustomed to epics

Sevilla FC has experienced many incredible moments. Especially in the 21st century, where moments such as Stephan M'Bia's imperial header against Valencia CF in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League semifinals of the 2013-14 season stand out. Thanks to that goal, the Andalusians were able to reach the final in Turin against Benfica, whom the Andalusians made succumb from the penalty spot with Beto as the main figure by saving two kicks. However, the memory that first comes to mind (along with Antonio Puerta's goal that put Sevilla in their first continental final against Schalke 04 in the hundredth minute of the centenary) is another header. Palop, when all hope was fading, put Juande Ramos' boys into the next round of the 2006-07 UEFA Cup, which they would go on to win against Espanyol at Hampden Park, against Shakhtar Donestk.

"I just copied the kind of moves my teammates do in training. It was something incredible and very exciting."

The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, the home of the sevillistas.

The only Spanish stadium that will host two finals of major European competitions (in 1986 the final of the Champions League was played between FC Barcelona and Steaua Bucharest and in 2021 the final of the UEFA Europa League will be played), it was inaugurated by Ramón de Carranza on September 7, 1958 in a friendly match between Sevilla FC. and Real Jaén. This stadium was built because the previous one was too obsolete.
