Sparta Prague

In addition to the unlikely challenge of overturning the aggregate score, Sparta Prague, leaders of the Czech League, are still struggling with a negative record: the Prague side have never beaten Liverpool in their three previous meetings, all in the knockout stages of the Europa League (one draw and two defeats). And the timing doesn't help either: Brian Priske's side are coming off the back of two defeats: 5-1 to Liverpool in the first leg, and 4-0 to Viktoria Plzen in the league.

Klopp:

- Salah ready (to play), he's in good shape. I don't know if he can play the full 90 minutes and I don't know if he should play the full 90 minutes, but he's ready to start the match," Klopp said on the eve of the match.

Salah come back?

Changing the team has become a forced habit for Klopp, who has lost several players to injury throughout the season, such as goalkeeper Alisson, full-back Alexander-Arnold, defenders Joel Matip and Konaté, midfielder Thiago Alcântara and striker Diogo Jota.

The Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who has recovered from a muscle problem and has played in Liverpool's last two matches, coming on as a second-half substitute, could get a chance in the starting line-up.

Liverpool with a big advantage

Liverpool host Czech side Sparta Prague in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday with very little risk of elimination. After all, in the first leg in Prague, the English side won 5-1 and can even lose by three goals to qualify. It's a chance for coach Jürgen Klopp to save a few first-team players, with an eye on the fierce battle for the English title with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Sparta absentees

Needing a big win to qualify for the quarter-finals, Sparta Prague will be looking for a 'miracle' away from home to move on in the Europa League. At least in their local league, they are dominant as leaders and have a big lead over rivals Slavia.

In Brian Priske's team, Sorensen will be absent with a thigh injury and Vindheim's absence will also be felt by the coach. However, he can count on the return of Krejci and the presence of players like Kuchta, Preciado and Birmancevic.

In the first leg

A great result for Liverpool, who won the first leg 5-1. As a result, the Reds can only lose their place in the quarter-finals if they are beaten by the Czechs at Anfield, which leaves Jürgen Klopp's men in no doubt for the second leg.

For Thursday's match, Klopp will be without the injured Konaté, who joins a host of players (including Alisson, Matip, Gravenberch, Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Jones) who won't be playing against Sparta. Salah still won't be a starter in Thursday's game, even though he's in good condition.

Sparta Prague

Reigning Czech champions Sparta Prague didn't have it easy in the Europa League. They had to beat Aris Limassol on the last matchday to advance in second place in Pool C. In the playoffs, they got past Galatasaray with a home win. But they suffered in the first leg against a more qualified team.

Already guaranteed a place in the next round of the Czech League, Sparta Prague spared their starters in the derby against Viktoria Plzeň and were beaten 4-0 away from home, but remain top of the table. For Thursday's game, coach Brian Priske has all his players available.

Liverpool

Despite going through a rather turbulent time in terms of injuries, Liverpool have remained in contention in the Premier League and remain one of the big favorites for the Europa League. In the last round of domestic matches, they drew 1-1 with Manchester City at home. Stones and Mac Allister scored the goals. Arsenal took the lead on goal difference.

In the Europa League, the situation is quite favorable. The Reds can lose by up to three goals and still qualify. With that in mind, Klopp may spare a few players ahead of the decisive FA Cup clash against Manchester United next Sunday (17).

TIME AND PLACE!

This Thursday (14) at 5pm (Brasília), Liverpool and Sparta Prague meet for the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 at Anfield. The first leg ended in a 5-1 away win for Liverpool.

Liverpool and Sparta Prague have met three times in their history. They met in the first leg of the last 16 and in the Europa League 10/11, also in the last 16. The Czechs are coming off the back of a 4-0 defeat by Viktoria Plzen in the league, while the Reds are coming off what was perhaps the most important game of the English season, a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

In the group stage, Sparta Prague finished second in group C with three wins, one draw and two defeats, while Liverpool finished top of group E with four wins and two defeats. Even with a mixed team, Liverpool are still the favorites for the match after their 5-1 win away from home.
