For a moment, a brief moment, Cal Bears fans had hope for something big. Something that even dreams couldn't picture. The first step to that dream was landing five-star recruit Caleb Swanigan. Swanigan, though, has other plans. Friday afternoon at 3 P.M. PST, Swanigan made his decision to go to Michigan State to play for Tom Izzo and the Spartans.

Although awesome for Michigan State, this puts a big damper into Cal's hopes and the "dream." Ivan Rabb, the star PF/C out of Oakland, CA is still up in there on where he is going. Cal should be considered at the top of Rabb's list, and it would have helped a lot if Swanigan had declared to Cal. Cal was supposedly the leading candidate for Swanigan, but since that went south it causes this writer to wonder if Cal is the leader in any of the recruits. The domino effect that Cal hoped for would be Swanigan committing, then Rabb, then a slight chance for Jaylen Brown. Now, this domino effect could actually go in the opposite route, in not landing these recruits.

It would shock this writer if Rabb didn't go to Cal. Normally, one would think he'd go to Arizona, but they are stacked at the big position so it seems at least for the success of Rabb, Cal is in a better position for now. Stay strong Bears fans.
