There are a few instances in life where emergency surgery can be a good thing. Ryan Callahan definitely experienced one of those as he was experience stomach pain before game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals between his Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens, and had all the proper tests done that showed he needed an emergency appendectomy.

That of course means that they removed his appendix. It is not required to have an appendix as a human, it is one of those strange things that science doesn't fully understand why it is even there yet. But after taking a 3-0 lead in the series and then dropping their last two games to come into what is their final home game of the series, the Lightning clearly wanted everyone at full strength and now Callahan is going to be out indefinitely. If the Lightning can win game 6, and then win the Eastern Conference Finals, this writer thinks that there would be a remote chance that Callahan could come back for the Stanley Cup Finals if he is able to recover well from the surgery.

Surgery is absolutely never a fun thing to experience, so this writer and all of us here at VAVEL USA are wishing Ryan Callahan a quick recovery, as we always want to see the best players on the ice.
