Erik ten Hag's team have been able to put a horror start to their Premier League campaign firmly behind them.

Following defeats to Brighton and Brentford, to start off the season, Manchester United have only suffered one defeat from the subsequent nine fixtures.

The highlights of this run have included wins, at Old Trafford, against Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. With the only other home result being a 0-0 draw against the high-flying Newcastle, it has been a very impressive spell of home form, considering the quality of their recent opposition.

With fixtures against Fulham and Aston Villa to come, before the World Cup break, Man United will be aiming to target a place in the top four, prior to the time off.

West Ham have also enjoyed a recent improvement to their domestic results, albeit to a slightly less grand scale. Consecutive home wins against Wolves, Fulham and Bournemouth have aided The Hammers in putting right their slow start.

However, their first win of the season - away at Villa Park, remains their only away success of the season.

Last season's league meetings between the two teams were both that West Ham supporters would have been keen to quickly forget. A Jesse Lingard 89th minute winner, followed by a subsequent Mark Noble penalty miss, at London Stadium and a 93rd minute Marcus Rashford winner, in the reverse fixture, meant late heartbreak for West Ham, on both occasions.

Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek both returned to first-team action, against Sheriff Tiraspol, on Thursday. The former seems the more likely of the pair to be in contention for a start, on Sunday. Either Maguire or Victor Lindelof should partner Lisandro Martinez at the heart of defence, with Raphael Varane out.

Following disciplinary action, after his antics at the end of the Tottenham fixture, Cristiano Ronaldo is available for selection. The forward scored his team's third goal against Sheriff, but seems unlikely to displace Marcus Rashford from the Premier League 11.

Antony, Rashford, Martinez, Casemiro and Diogo Dalot all had their minutes managed, during Thursday's fixture. It may be assumed, that the group were being kept as fresh as possible, for tomorrow's fixture.

Anthony Martial remains out of contention. Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to full training, earlier this week and may return to the squad, on Sunday.

It will be intriguing to see whether Fred or Christian Eriksen will partner Casemiro, in midfield. The latter has started both of the team's last two fixtures - giving the Brazilian the edge, in terms of freshness. However, Eriksen's impressive performances mean that he still seems like the likely option.

The fresh injury concern over Jarrod Bowen has added to the frustrating absences of Lucas Paqueta and Craig Dawson. Bowen had missed Thursday's fixture against Silkeborg, due to an ankle injury, but had been training, prior to tomorrow's fixture. David Moyes did not rule the winger out of contention.

Paqueta, on the other hand, has been confirmed to be unavailable. West Ham's summer signing will hope to be back in time for next weekend, for his team's last two home fixtures, before the World Cup.

From what initially appeared to be a fairly innocuous calf injury, Maxwel Cornet seems to still be unavailable. His time out is now approaching the one month mark.

Nayef Aguerd made his much-anticipated first competitive start for West Ham, on Thursday - a very impressive 75-minute outing. Before that game, Moyes stated that the centre-back would not be in contention for this fixture.

Flynn Downes has played himself into becoming a highly-valued member of this West Ham squad. The 23-year-old started both of The Hammers' two previous league games and earned the right to have a relative rest on Thursday - only coming on off the bench.

Predicted Lineups

Key Players

Manchester United - Casemiro

A remarkable, last-gasp header at Stamford Bridge salvaged an unlikely point for his team - it was Casemiro's first Man United goal.

It seems remarkable that it took until the 9 October for the former Real Madrid man to start his first Premier League game - having to settle for appearances off the bench, while Scott McTominay remained in the lineup.

The Brazil international patiently waited for his chance and, once it came, he has made the most of it. The 30-year-old midfielder is a player in his prime years and a presence which this team had desperately needed, in the middle of the park.

West Ham - Declan Rice

Performances in the last few weeks have been particularly impressive from the England midfielder.

A brilliant goal at Southampton was followed up with man-of-the-match performances against both Liverpool and Bournemouth. Even in a West Ham team, which is showing fairly positive signs, Rice has looked a level above his team-mates.

The all-round capabilities of West Ham's star man have been clearly on show, throughout the last couple of seasons - he is a major asset to his team, both in and out of possession.
