Right when it seemed like the Boston Bruins were taking the charge in the series, outscoring the Canadiens 4-1 in the third period in the last game, Montreal put together their strongest showing of the series, besting the Boston Bruins 4-2 in regulation.

In a game that was closer on paper than it was in actuality, the Montreal Canadiens jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back despite Boston's best efforts. The scoring opened halfway through the first period when Tomas Plekanec scored a quick wrister past Tuukka Rask, his third goal in as many games.

The Canadiens weren't done just yet as star defenseman P.K. Subban would tack on another goal just 4 minutes later to give Montreal the 2-0 lead. The third goal of the game would be yet another one from the Canadiens, this time off the stick of Dale Weise 13:52 into the second period, supplanting the Canadiens as winners with a dominant 3-0 lead.

The Bruins would however attempt to fight back with a tip-in goal from Patrice Bergeron late in the second period to cut the lead to two. Continuing the comeback the Bruins scored again with less than three minutes to go off of another tip - in this time coming off of Jarome Iginla's stick and beating Price.

All good things must come to an end though and Boston's attempt to make a third period comeback two games in a row was stiffed by an empty netter from Lars Eller with only three seconds remaining giving the Canadiens the final victory of 4-2.

The infamous P.K. Subban was named player of the game for his goal and assist as well as Montreal's Carey Price and Dale Weise being named second and third stars respectively.

The next game of the series will be on Thursday the 8th and will be the second straight game on Montreal's home ice.
