It's somewhat odd to see this blowout in game 2 of this series, as the Canadiens will now have to take 4 out of 5 in order to win the series. But with the exhaustion and the let down after losing a game in double overtime on Friday, it appeared the Canadiens just didn't have anything in the tank still when they returned to their home ice on Sunday evening.

Despite that, they did take the lead by scoring the opening goal on Ben Bishop. Jeff Petry was the one who gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead, but it would be quite a while before they would get a second goal.

The Lightning just kept shooting, with Valtteri Filppula scoring the tying goal with just 24 seconds left in the first period, after the Lightning had gotten on a power play after P.K. Subban had a two minute minor for cross-checking. Steven Stamkos would start the scoring in the second period, as the Lightning would get 3 goals in the period within 7 minutes. Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman joined in the goal scoring parade as Carey Price just didn't have the right stuff in his goal today. It is ironic though as the Lightning only got 24 shots on goal, but they ended up lighting the lamp behind him 6 times, for a putrid 75% save percentage.

Kucherov got the fifth goal for the Lightning in the final period on yet another power play, as the Lightning scored 4 power play goal on 8 attempts in this game. The Canadiens simply will have to find a way to take less penalties when they travel to Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida for game 3. J.T. Brown scored the final goal for the Lightning, which got them to their grand total of six goals in the game. Tom Gilbert scored for the Canadiens as well in the final period, but it was too late.

With the travel to Tampa, the teams will get two days of rest as their next matchup is on May 6 at 7 PM Eastern. The Lightning have the 2-0 advantage and will be looking to put the Canadiens away at home.
