United SportsCar: Scott Pruett Fastest In Practice 3 At COTA

Chip Ganassi Racing remained on top of the timesheet in the third practice session of the Lone Star Le Mans weekend. Scott Pruett set the fastest time of the weekend thus far.

The TUDOR Championship continued the Lone Star Le Mans weekend at Circuit of The Americas with the third and final practice session on Friday morning.

Prototype

The No. 01 Ford EcoBoost Riley DP of Chip Ganassi Racing continued fastest also in the third practice. Scott Pruett set the fastest time of the session, 1:57.366; almost three tenths faster than yesterday's fastest time by Joey Hand.

Yesterday's second-fastest car, the No. 60 Ligier JS P2 Honda of Michael Shank Racing, was second in the third practice. Oswaldo Negri set the car's fastest time, 0.205 seconds behind leader. Third fastest was the No. 10 Chevrolet Corvette DP of Wayne Taylor Racing, with Ricky Taylor setting its fastest lap 0.502 seconds behind the leader.

The top six was completed by the No. 31 and No. 5 Corvette DPs of Action Express Racing and the No. 90 Corvette DP of VisitFlorida.com Racing.

Prototype Challenge

The fastest car in the Prototype Challenge class and seventh overall was the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Oreca FLM09. Renger van der Zande set the fastest PC class time of 1:59.606. Second-fastest was the No. 54 CORE autosport entry, with Colin Braun setting a time 0.553 behind van der Zande.

The session had a brief red flag following an incident involving Todd Slusher in the No. 16 BAR1 Motorsports car and Sean Rayhall in the No. 88 Starworks Motorsport car. Both drivers were quickly released from medical evaluation.

GT Le Mans

The No. 17 Porsche 911 RSR of Team Falken Tire topped the final practice in the GT Le Mans class as Wolf Henzler set the fastest time of 2:03.521. Dirk Werner was second-fastest in the No. 25 BMW Team RLL car, just 0.023 seconds behind the Henzler. Earl Bamber was third-fastest in the No. 912 car of Porsche North America, 0.066 seconds behind Henzler.

The top five was entirely occupied by the Porsches and the BMWs. The sole Risi Competizione Ferrari was sixth, almost half a second behind the leader. The two Corvette Racing cars were seventh and eighth, about a second behind the leader.

GT Daytona

The fastest car of the GT Daytona class was the No. 48 Audi R8 LMS of Paul Miller Racing with Christopher Haase setting the fastest time of 2:09.365. Second fastest was the No. 007 TRG-AMR Aston Martin, with Kuno Wittmer setting a time 0.072 seconds slower than Haase. Mario Farnbacher in the No. 23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing Porsche was third-fastest, 0.169 behind the class leader.
