On Kirk Gibson's 57th birthday, the Arizona Diamondbacks gifted him with a 12-6 win over the San Diego Padres. The win also won the series.

Tim Stauffer was absolutely lit up by the Diamondbacks Wednesday night, as he only got one out while giving up seven earned runs on six hits in just the first inning. Paul Goldschmidt, Martin Prado and Chris Owings all had RBI hits to make 3-0. Ender Inciarte's two run single made it 5-0 and Bud Black pulled Stauffer from the game to bring in Donn Roach. A.J. Pollock then hit a two run double that was followed by a Gerardo Parra RBI single to cap the franchise record eight run first.

Martin Prado hit a two run homer in the second inning to make it 10-0.

The Padres finally got on the board in the fourth inning on Jedd Gyorko's RBI groundout. San Diego got three more in the fifth, as Yonder Alonso hit a RBI single and Tommy Medica hit a two run double. Chase Anderson was done after the fifth inning, earning his third win in as many starts. Anderson gave up four runs --just one earned-- on eight hits.

Paul Goldschmidt iced the game in the seventh inning after hitting a massive two run home run to dead center field, that actually hit his picture on the jumbotron. A rare feat at Chase Field.

Tommy Medica finished off his dominance of Arizona in the three game series, by hitting a solo home run to deep right field in the eighth. Medica went 7 for 10 from the plate with two home runs and five RBI's in the series. Carlos Quentin was hit by a pitch later in the inning to tack on another run, making it 12-6.

The D-backs stay at home to start a four game series with the Cincinnati Reds. Josh Collmenter takes the mound to face off against Tony Cingrani. As for the Padres, they head to Chicago to face the White Sox. Ian Kennedy and John Danks will be the starting pitchers for game one.
