The Dan Uggla story is still going strong in Atlanta. After a late night tweet from Gwinnett Braves OF Todd Cunningham revealing that Phil Gosselin had been called up the the majors by the Atlanta Braves speculation started to run wild.

It wasn't until about 11:30 this morning that the speculation could finally stop and we knew the answer of if Dan Uggla was in fact designated for assignment or not. Uggla wasn't DFA, he was suspended for one game by the Braves for what has been rumored insubordination. This suspension had Braves twitter going wild, most of them literally begging for the Braves to just let Uggla go already. Of course, we're paying him a lot but sitting on the bench isn't doing the team any good.

The one game suspension of Uggla came up surprisingly and literally out of no where. No one saw it coming and it has made everyone that was speculating last night that much more confused today.

The only good, and logical thing to take from this is that Phil Gosselin was called up to take Uggla's roster spot. Gosselin had been hitting .345 with the Gwinnett Braves. That average was good for third in his league. He was also leading his league in hits with around 120. His numbers resemble Tommy La Stella's numbers, solid contact guy that can put the ball into play almost every at-bat.

Putting the ball in play is a rough comparison to Uggla's play from the last few years. No one knows what's wrong with Uggla, no one knows what the Braves will do with him next. Everyone just needs to sit back and let the front office do what they're paid to do and we can all act shock when he is DFA in the very near future.
