The Boston Red Sox have traded OF Yoenis Cespedes to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for RHP Rick Porcello.

Cespedes was an All-Star in 2014, batting .260/.301/.450 with 22 home runs and 100 RBI. He was acquired by the Red Sox from the Athletics at the Trade Deadline for Jon Lester. He has hit 71 home runs in his three-season career, and will add great power to Detroit's offense.

Primarily a corner outfielder due to his incredible arm, Cespedes will likely start in right field in 2015, shifting J.D. Martinez to right in front of Rajai Davis. In 2014, Cespedes had 16 outfield assists, the most in the American League. He also only committed six errors last season, the fourth best in the American League. He will provide great defense and a powerful bat alongside Victor Martinez and Miguel Cabrera for the Tigers in 2015.

Porcello will complete Boston's reconstructed lineup. He will likely be the #3 or #4 starter in the rotation, behind Wade Miley, Justin Masterson, and maybe Clay Buchholz. He went 15-13 last season with a career-best 3.43 ERA, 0.87 points better than his career-average. From 2010 to 2014, Porcello has improved his average every season.

Porcello is a strong and reliable starter who will contribute a lot to Boston's new 2015 starting rotation.
