The Mets for weeks have had multiple players filling the void for David Wright at third base, but none of them have shined of late.

Eric Campbell (.181) and Danny Muno (.071) have not been hitting at all. Ruben Tejada (.221), who has been hitting of late, is playing out of position and is not a third basemen. Some teams have been taking advantage of lack of experience at the position. Which give the Mets a weakness at the hot corner.

So is it time to shake things up a little by getting reinforcements from the minors?

The answer is: All depends on the status of Captain David Wright..

Last week, the Mets sent David Wright to a back clinic in California to get further evaluated by Dr. Robert Watkins and so far no word has been passed on, which by my pessimistic Mets fan standards has me believing it is worse than Mets officials are saying (or leading on).

Wright has been out since April 15, initially with a hamstring injury and then the back problem developed.

Another indication that the injury (spinal stenosis) is more serious than lead on is the Mets have put an insurance claim on Wright's contract in which the Mets would get 75% of their funds back if he misses 60 or more days.

If Wright's status is worsened, this could mean a call up from farmhand Matt Reynolds to shake it up a little with either Campbell or Muno getting sent back down.

The Mets are also hoping catcher Travis d'Arnaud could inject a dose of offense if he proclaimed healthy off the DL, but has bee shut down recently with a bone bruise on his wrist. So he remains a mystery to return later than diagnosed.

Matt Reynolds , who is currently playing for the Vegas 51's has been playing well this season. He is currently batting .288, with 2 HRs and 27 RBI's. He has mainly played shortstop, but has been moved over to second base as of late. So if the Mets call him up that means 2B Daniel Murphy would be slotted back to his natural position of third base and Wilmer Flores would remain at shortstop. Giving them a little better alignment.

Reynolds is not currently on the 40 Man Roster and of course would have to added and probably a major reason why we have not seen him called up already.
