Six weeks ago, James McCann hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning against the Houston Astros. On Sunday, he did it again, this time in the ninth inning, to give the Detroit Tigers a 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox

"An 0-2 pitch, I was just looking for something up," McCann said. "I knew it had a chance."

McCann has launched three home runs during the 2015 season, one being an inside-the-park home run.

The Tigers were shut out until scoring four runs in the eighth inning against White Sox pitcher Jeff Samardzija. Victor Martinez had a monster three-run double to tie the game in the eighth.

"I think he's [McCann] been doing a great job," teammate Martinez said. "He's been catching great games, he's been swinging the bat pretty good. At this point I don't think anybody is surprised what he's doing. The guy can hit."

McCann started the eighth inning with a single, then Samardzija walked Jose Iglesias, gave up a single to Anthony Gose, and hit Ian Kinsler to force in a run.

On the bright side for Samardzija, he got Miguel Cabrera to strike out on a high and tight fast ball, which made him appear to still have his stuff.

"After he got Miggy, and especially the way he did it, he obviously still had something left in the tank to go after Victor," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "We were going hitter by hitter that inning, and we felt like Jeff was the best matchup."

After striking out Cabrera, Victor Martinez clobbered a three-run double to tie up the game.

Samardzija finished after 7.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks. He exited with the game tied, and his ERA went to 4.56.

Zach Putnam gave up the solo shot to McCann, so he was credited with the loss after giving up that one home run to the Tigers catcher with two outs in the ninth inning.

David Price struggled in the fourth and sixth innings, but he was dominant during the rest of the game. He gave up a home run to Melky Cabrera in the fourth, which was the most impressive hit by the White Sox all game.

The Tigers were down when Price left, but he did not take the loss because of the comeback. The pitcher out of Vanderbilt University went 6.0 innings and gave up four runs on six hits. Price struck out five hitters and threw 99 pitches, which is a low number for the lefty.

Joakim Soria pitched a perfect top of the ninth, striking out one. Because of the homer in the bottom of the ninth, he got the win, and the closer is now 3-0 on the season.
