The context of the moment

The most likely scenario for this match is that Wolfsburg does not lose. Undoubtedly, the German team is experiencing a better moment against Lille, and therefore should dominate and enjoy the best chances to score goals. Key Player Lille

Burak Yilmaz has become the hero of the Lille fans since his arrival, not only has he become an important player, but he was one of the factors that helped Lille become champions last season and he will be the player to watch for this match, since his arrival in France he has played only 2,506 minutes in which he has appeared 33 times in the starting lineup, he has also scored 19 times and assisted only 5 times. At the age of 36, his retirement may be near and what better way to do it if he wins a Champions League with the team that opened the doors for him in the final chapter of his long career, the Turk could tip the scales in favor of the French at any time because he is always a latent goal threat every time the Turkish star touches the ball.

Key Player Wolfsburg

A young promise from France and considered one of the best central defenders last season, Maxence Lacroix, will be the player to follow for this match, since his arrival in 2020 with the German team he has played 3,519 minutes, in which he has appeared 41 times in the starting lineup, has scored only 2 goals and has collaborated in 1 goal for the Wolfsburg team. Likewise, he has 9 yellow cards and no expulsion so far in his career, the current Wolfsburg center back could tip the balance in favor of the Teutonic team at any time because he has become a real wall in the defensive zone.

The Satdium

Pierre-Mauroy Stadium until 2013 called Grand Stade Lille Métropole, is a stadium located in the city of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Lille, France. The stadium has a capacity of 50 186 spectators and replaces Lille's former home stadium, Stadium Lille Métropole. Its completion was delayed and the inaugural match was played on August 17, 2012.

It is the home stadium of Lille OSC soccer club. It also hosted matches of EuroBasket 2015 and Euro 2016. In November 2014, it hosted the Davis Cup final between France and Switzerland, with record attendance for a final of that tournament. It has also hosted rugby matches of the France national team during the November window.

The stadium has a retractable roof, which moves in 30 minutes, solar panels and wind turbines.

In search of further transcendence

The Wolfsburg team is once again in the UEFA Champions League, currently the Wolves have had a magnificent start to the season as they are placed as leaders of the championship with 12 out of 12 possible points, also, they are currently one of the best defenses in the Bundesliga as they have only registered one goal in their last four matches. For the moment, everything seems to indicate that the German team will remain so in their local league, however, they will not have it so easy in French territory, as they will face the current French champion.

The new French champions

The current French champions are ready to start their journey in the current European Cup, after winning Ligue 1 and ending a streak of three consecutive tournaments won by Paris Saint-Germain and beating the Parisians in the French Super Cup, Les Dogues will be looking to continue writing history in Europe's top club competition. This season has not had the dream start as they are 10th in their league with only 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats, also, they have gone from being one of the best defenses to one of the most irregular as they have conceded 11 goals in 5 games, even so, the French team will look to make their presence felt at home when they face Wolfsburg.

The road to St. Petersburg begins

All great moments begin in a dream, and only a few are fortunate enough to boast that they once held the Orejona in their arms and were named "kings of Europe". Once again, the dreams of 32 teams seeking to engrave their name in eternal glory begin, but to do so, they will have to overcome a long road full of obstacles to reach the main event, St. Petersburg, and have the honor of being crowned as the new champions of the old continent. In group "D", Lille and Wolfsburg will face each other on matchday 1 of the group stage and will try to get their first three points of the tournament in the hope of having a pleasant debut and getting closer to the next objective: qualifying for the knockout rounds.
