Following Gabriel Pereyra's departure to Atlético Morelia, Roberto Hernández has returned to Mexican soccer and will take the reins of Cimarrones de Sonora.

Mazatlan and Cimarrones continue to develop their preseason game, both of which will be starting the championship in a couple of weeks in their respective categories.

A year ago, these two teams played on the same field and Mazatlan won the game with a 4-1 victory over the Cimarrones de Sonora.

In addition to this game, Mazatlan will be playing Dorados de Sinaloa at home on Saturday and, next weekend, they will visit Santos Laguna to close their preseason.

Meanwhile, Cimarrones finally made history and made it to the Grand Final of the MX Expansion League, where they lost 2-0 on aggregate to Atlético Morelia.

On two Wednesdays, the 29th, Mazatlan will put on a show to present its uniform, as it will have Inés Sainz as its godmother and La banda el recodo will also give a concert.

Meanwhile, the Cimarrones will make their debut on Wednesday, June 29 in the MX Expansion League, where they will be visiting the Cimarrones de Sonora.

Mazatlan will be making its home debut on July 1 when it hosts La Franja de Puebla, the same team that eliminated it from the re-qualification round the previous semester.

Just last Sunday, the Sonora team announced its first new signings with the official arrival of Diego Jiménez from Celaya, Diego López from La Piedad and César Bernal from Tampico Madero.

While the departures announced a few days ago were: Oscar Villa, Irving Zurita, Martín Lagunes, Iván Tona, Daniel López, Adrián Caballero, Rubén Domínguez and Óscar Millan.

Mazatlán has not officially signed any new players, although Marco Fabián has been re-signed for another year.

Some of the departures include Jesús Zavala, Richard Ríos, Jorge Zárate, Gonzalo Freitas, Nicolás Díaz and Iván Moreno.

The Cañoneros announced that they will play their preparation matches behind closed doors, so the public will have to wait until the game against Puebla in July to see them again.

Cimarrones de Sonora reached their first final of the Liga de Expansión MX and hope to revalidate it for the next competition, although now they will have to do it without Gabriel Pereyra because he left for Atlético Morelia and now they will have the experienced Roberto Hernández on the bench.

Mazatlán's mission for the next tournament will be to make a leap in quality and, although they have already qualified for their first re-qualification in their history, their mission will be to qualify directly to the Mexican soccer's big party. In addition to this match, they will be playing Tijuana on the 22nd and Santos Laguna on the 25th.
