City will be further pleased by the return of de Bruyne this afternoon, only bolstering their attacking options. The Belgian was impressive in the 30 minutes he played.
My Man of the Match goes to Mahrez, the Algerian was phenomenal all afternoon, creating chances and driving at the Burnley backline at every opportunity, before also getting his name on the scoreline with a few minutes to play.
Burnley will feel hard done by to have been beaten by five goals, however almost every time they put a foot wrong they were punished this afternoon by a resilient City side. Not too many concerns for Dyche, he'll know his side simply lacked the quality to deal with this star-studded City lineup.
Guardiola's men complete yet another convincing home victory thanks to five goals, and a five-star display this afternoon. A very pleasing performance for the Spanish manager.
Full-time: Manchester City 5-0 Burnley
90' There will be three more additional minutes.
90' City wrap up a five-star display through Sane, who drifts into the middle before simply finishing at the near post following Mendy's low ball in.
GOAL! City make it 5-0!
88' A rare chance for Burnley as Barnes gets on the end of a loose pass back to Ederson, although the keeper is quick off his line to deny the Burnley forward.
87' Guardiola's side not letting up here, pushing on further in search of a fifth. Foden this time picking the ball up in the box and looking to cross into Jesus, although his ball in is blocked at the near post.
84' A deserved goal for Mahrez as de Bruyne drives at the Burnley backline, the ball is knocked around slickly between the City frontline before Mahrez picks it up on the edge of the box and plants it in the top corner. He's been fantastic today.
GOAL! Mahrez gets in on the act! 4-0
78' Kevin de Bruyne showing glimpses of his best on his return, the Belgian's brilliant vision picking out Jesus who isn't quite able to make anything of the chance before the ball rolls out for a goal kick.
76' The brilliant Mahrez picks out Foden for his first action of the game, who dinks a terrific cross into Jesus, although the Brazilian's header is straight at Hart.
75' Barnes also replaces Defour on his return to Premier League action, the Belgian has been very isolated today for Burnley
74' A final change for City, the impressive Silva is replaced by Foden.
69' A double change for the Clarets. Vokes and Lennon are replaced by Wood and Westwood.
68' Burnley's first corner of the game is a good one, picking Vokes out again who's header flies over the bar.
68' Lowton's early cross picks out Vokes, who makes the most of a half-chance to earn his side a corner off Kompany.
67' Burnley are still having a go, looking to get men forward and give their travelling support, who have been excellent, something to shout about.
66' Aguero is replaced by Gabriel Jesus.
65' The champions drive forward again, Silva picking out Aguero this time before Hart saves Burnley again.
62' City not letting up in their onslaught for further goals, de Bruyne straight into the action picking out Mahrez who fires straight at Hart.
58' Substitution for City. Bernardo comes off for the return of de Bruyne, who is given a rousing reception on his return from injury.
56' The home side push forward following their goal, earning a corner, which is cleared by Burnley before Fernandinho joins in the scoring with a thunderbolt from range. Fantastic goal and it looks to be game over.
GOAL! City strike for the second time in two minutes! 3-0
54' City really turning on the style early in this second half, Silva and Sane link up down the left before Sane goes down claiming a penalty. Burnley freeze whilst City don't and Silva picks out Bernardo who fires a rocket into the top corner.
GOAL! City double their advantage! 2-0
53' City continue to create chances from the following corner, as captain Kompany wins a header and looks to play it back across goal, although Cork is first to meet the ball and head clear.
52' The home side looking to up the pace, Mahrez at the centre of the action again, before the ball falls wide to sane who's cross is blocked out for a corner.
51' Despite a lot of medical staff attending to the player and a stretcher being called on, Lowton gets up and wants to rejoin the action. Great news for the Clarets.
48' Lowton heads away Silva's strike and goes down, both City and Burnley medical staff attending to the player - looks unlikely to continue.
46' We're underway in the second-half!
Burnley will feel relieved to still be in this game, following poor defending from crosses this afternoon - something Dyche's side will have to work on in order to stay in the game.
Guardiola will be pleased with his side's efforts in the first 45, with plenty of chances being created, and the majority of the possession being dominated.
Half-time: Manchester City 1-0 Burnley
45+2' A brilliant chance for City to double their lead, as another teasing ball picks out Silva, whose header was parried by Hart before Aguero somehow fires over the bar. Relief for Burnley on the stroke of half-time.
45' There will be three additional minutes.
45' Another half-chance for Burnley as Gudmundsson picks the ball up on the edge of the box and looks to pick out the top corner, although the ball flies over the ball and Ederson remains untroubled.
44' Burnley looking to press forward for an equaliser as half-time approaches, however, the ball bounces off the referee and momentum is killed.
38' Mendy able to continue following his treatment, a relief for Guardiola following his left-backs injury worries since signing for the club just over 12 months ago.
37' A collision between Vokes and Mendy sees them both stay on the floor, Mendy now being treated on the sideline for what looks like a rib injury.
35' Rare chance for Burnley with Lennon driving forward down the Burnley left, before picking out Hendrick who's effort was blocked by Stones. Still hope for the Claret and Blues, following a lot defending.
29' Another chance for City, Aguero's shot from range is deflected, before fortunately for the home side landing at the feet of Silva, who is only able to lift the ball over the bar whilst under pressure from the Burnley centre-backs.
24' Despite the rare break forward from Burnley, the home side continue to dominate the play, this time with Sane picking out Mahrez, although the wingers effort is blocked out for a corner.
22' Penalty shouts from the away end as the ball is whipped in from Burnley's left flank before being dodgily controlled by Kompany. Referee having none of it.
17' Dyche will be disappointed with his sides marking on the goal, following a positive start by the away side.
17' City's early pressure results in a goal, Sane linking up with Silva down the left-wing, before the Spaniard drives a low cross in towards Aguero who simply finishes with his left foot.
GOAL! City take the lead. 1-0.
15' Biggest chance of the game thus far, again with Mahrez cutting in from the right and delivering a terrific cross in towards Aguero, however, the Argentinian's effort was saved by Hart, resulting in a corner kick.
8' The home side starting to dominate the ball, zipping it around the pitch. Burnley dealing with it well in the early stages.
3' Guardiola's side respond well to Burnley's quick start. Mahrez picking out an inch-perfect pass to Aguero, who's header also flies wide of the target. Eventful start.
2' The first chance of the game falls the way of the visitors, Gudmunsson's free-kick picking out Vokes, who's header floats over the bar.
1' City captain Kompany receives an early yellow card for a foul on Lennon, a few shouts for a red following the Belgian's high-footed challenge.
1' We're underway at the Etihad.
The players are out onto the pitch at the Etihad, raring to go following a couple of weeks off from club football.
Joe Hart returns to his former club and will no doubt receive a standing ovation, as well we most likely a very busy afternoon in the Burnley goal.
Big team news for Guardiola's side is that de Bruyne returns to the bench, a huge boost for the Blues, expect to see him at some point this afternoon.
Burnley XI: Hart; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Lennon, Cork, Hendrick, Defour, Gudmundsson; Vokes
Manchester City XI: Ederson; Laporte, Kompany, Stones, Mendy; Fernandinho, Silva, Mahrez, Sane, Bernardo; Aguero
Team news is in!
Team news ahead of this one coming shortly before kick-off.
Whilst Guardiola’s side may have a grilling schedule coming up in the next few weeks, due to them being in the UEFA Champions League as well as the Carabao Cup, you can guarantee that the City boss will be looking no further than this encounter right now, knowing that his side will have to be at their very best if they’re to overcome a resilient, well organised and hardworking Burnley side, who will have plans of their own to push even further up the table and look to challenge for a spot in Europe again.
Despite their poor record at the Etihad, Burnley have made a habit of defeating the reigning champions, doing so in both seasons since their return to the Premier League in 2016, a proud record that the Claret and Blues will want to maintain.
In recent years, the Blues haven’t had much of a problem against Burnley, especially at home, winning all of their last three encounters at the Etihad stadium, however, Burnley did cause problems for the Centurions last season at Turf Moor, salvaging a late equaliser to earn themselves a 1-1 draw – a result all fans of the Lancashire side would be thrilled to repeat tomorrow.
As for the visitors, there are four reported injury concerns ahead of this matchup, with Ben Gibson, Stephen Ward, James Tarkowski and Nick Pope all currently injured, possibly proving more of a headache for Dyche due to having significantly less firepower than Guardiola.
City will also be without long-term absentee’s Claudio Bravo and Elaquim Mangala, as well as possibly Ilkay Gundogan as the German midfielder looks to continue to work towards full fitness, although these absentees shouldn’t weaken this star-studded side too vastly.
One huge boost for the league leaders could be the return of star man Kevin de Bruyne, who has been ruled out since the start of the season. De Bruyne was originally set to be side-lined for four months, however, could be set to start against Burnley after just two months out.
As for Sean Dyche’s Burnley outfit, a disappointing start to the season has started to pick up, seeing the Claret and Blues unbeaten in their previous three games, and sitting 12th as a result – five points clear of the relegation zone.
Pep Guardiola’s side go into this one as league leaders, following an impressive start to the season in which the Blues remain unbeaten, however, their advantage could’ve been heightened had Riyad Mahrez converted a late penalty at Anfield against Liverpool before the international break – it will be interesting to see if this miss results in a change of kick-takers should the champions win a penalty in this one.
