As it happened - Burnley and Leeds United share the points

FULL TIME. Burnley 1-1 Leeds United

FULL TIME. That is just about it from me.

Burnley will feel they should have taken all three points today and put themselves in a great position to do so.

Leeds United didn't stop until the end, in all fairness to them, and did have chances in the first half that, on another day, they would take.

But they should count themselves lucky to be leaving Lancashire with anything at all.

I expected a physical encounter but there were some pretty tough tackles that set the tone of the game.

Both teams will be happy: Burnley were much better today and stayed competitive in the game until the end, which they haven't been in the previous two league games, while Leeds will be happy with their resilience and that they managed to keep going until the end.

That is that until after the International break; Burnley travel to Everton on September 13th, while Leeds face Liverpool at Elland Road a day before.

Thank you for joining me, it was a great game to watch!

Have a good evening and stay safe!

FULL TIME. Burnley 1-1 Leeds United

FULL TIME. Patrick Bamford's late equaliser cancelled out Chris Wood's opener.

Burnley were much the better side, but sat off after scoring and invited the pressure on.

The result means Burnley are 12 games without a win at Turf Moor, but they do rise up to 16th with their first point of the campaign.

Leeds up to 15th with their second consecutive draw this season.

HALF TIME. Raphinha's chance

14:51a month ago

Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

HALF TIME. That's the whistle and it is goalless at the break.

Both sides have had their chances, but no shots on target yet.

Raphinha has looked bright for Leeds and his cross-shot that went past the post was the best chance of the game.

Bamford rattled his own post as Burnley have caused problems from set pieces throughout the half.

But, goalless it remains.

See you in 15.

14:48a month ago

Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

45+1. One added minute.

Raphinha to Rodrigo to Harrison, who crosses into the box and Mee heads behind.

34. Best chance of the game so far falls to Raphinha.

Rodrigo slides the ball to him down the right and he gets caught in two minds and ends up neither shooting or crossing as he side foots the ball past the far post with no one at the back post.

14:33a month ago

Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

33. Gudmundsson's searching cross is well-claimed by Meslier.

Burnley's game plan is very obvious at the minute.

Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

30. It has been a physical half an hour in Lancashire.

Burnley much the better side at the minute.

26. Ben Mee thrashes the ball into the net but Barnes is penalised for a push.

18. The free kick curls away for a goal kick, but moments later Westwood is fouled on the right side.

McNeil floats it into the box, but Meslier claims.

He sets Bamford away and Brownhill cleans him out, and the midfielder gets the first booking of the game.

14:17a month ago

Burnley 0-0 Leeds United

15. Struijk wins a free kick against Barnes as the forward has a fistful of the defenders shirt.

15 minutes until kick-off - My prediction

Kick-off is in just 15 minutes!

It is going to be a physical, intense game that might produce very few chances in the first half, like it did at Elland Road last season.

However, as we have seen in the past two games with Burnley, they will begin to tire as the intensity will be too much from the visitors.

That being said, neither side has a particularly strong bench but Leeds will likely have too much quality and will take their first three points of the season, but only just.

Burnley 1-2 Leeds United

13:41a month ago

Hosts looking to end unwanted run

Burnley haven't won a home game in seven months, after beating Aston Villa 3-2 at the end of January.

That is 11 league home games without a win.

In that time, Leeds have won five of their 10 away games, including away at Manchester City.

Not a good omen for The Clarets really.

It is good to see that he is well, we hope he recovers soon.

Retribution on the cards today?

Can Burnley make amends after last season's crushing 0-4 defeat?

Klich opened the scoring with a beautiful curling effort from outside the box before half time before Jack Harrison flicked home after the break.

Substitute Rodrigo, who will look to haunt The Clarets again today, rounded off the win with two goals in three minutes to complete the rout.

Last time out...

The last game between these two sides was extremely one sided as Leeds left Turf Moor with an impressive 0-4 win.

Substitute Rodrigo scored a delightful brace in three second half minutes, chipping Bailey Peacock-Farrell for the Whites third before rounding the 'keeper minutes later to wrap up the win.

Mateusz Klich had opened the scoring in the first half with a long range effort and Jack Harrison flicked Ezgjan Alioski's cross into the net on the hour mark before Rodrigo's double confirmed the win.

Team News - Burnley

Burnley could welcome Ashley Westwood and Matej Vydra back into the matchday 20 after missing the Liverpool game.

Aaron Lennon will also be in the matchday squad after re-signing for the club ahead of the Carabao Cup win at Newcastle United.

Sean Dyche could name the same 1-to-11 side from last weekend's defeat.

21:07a month ago

Which side will pick up their first three points?

Both teams have stuttered at the start of this season, results wise.

But performances have been good in places from either side, despite not picking up three points in their opening two games.

Burnley held their own at Anfield last weekend against Liverpool for an hour, and were the better team in the opening game against Brighton and Hove Albion for large parts of the contest.

Leeds were battered at Manchester United but were on top for much of last weekend's entertaining 2-2 draw against Everton.

Performances do not always equal points though, and this is a great chance for either team to get a mark in the win column for the first time this season.
