Rafael Benitez's job at Napoli is not yet at risk, but talks of a new contract at the Italian club have been stalled according to reports.

According IL Mattino, negotations for a contract renewal have stalled, Benitez will meet president De Laurentiis today before he departs for the USA.

Benitez has come under some critiscism recently for his summer signings and their failure to reach the Champions League group stages, after their defeat to Athletic Bilbao. Their league form has also been concern with a 1-0 defeat to Udinese at the weekend, which was their second consecutive league defeat and saw them gather three points from a possible nine.

Benitez has only one year left on his current deal, and had been recently linked with a switch to Tyneside with Newcastle United, but the Spaniard spoke of the likelihood that talks will take place.

Benitez said: "When De Laurentiis comes back from the USA we will talk about the contract and how the team is growing. But now, we must only think about the present."
