FULL TIME: RB Leipzig 1-1 SC Freiburg

Late drama, yet it finishes 1-1 between RB Leipzig and SC Freiburg, Manuel Gulde and Yussuf Poulsen were on target for their respective sides.

90+3' VAR RULES IT OUT! (1-1)

Freiburg are devastated. An offside in the build up rules the goal out. It remains 1-1.

90+2' GOAL FREIBURG! (1-2)

WOW! That wasn't in the script. Robin Koch connects to Günther's free kick and Freiburg have won it in stoppage time against Leipzig for the second time this season. Incredible late drama in Saxony!

79' Leipzig on the front foot

Eleven minutes left and it's likely to be one way traffic from here. RB have threatened the whole half and that's unlikely to change. Can Freiburg hang on, or even do more?

77' GOAL! Leipzig level (1-1)

There it is! Kampl whips in a wonderful ball and Yussuf Poulsen rises highest to level things up for the home side. It's been on the cards for RB, but can they now snatch a winner?

72' Explosive Werner goes close! (0-1)

Another pacy move from Leipzig, this time Werner getting the shot off. Schwolow once again with a fantastic save to deny the talisman.

69' Leipzig switch it up. (0-1)

Marcel Sabitzer is on for Tyler Adams as Julian Nagelsmann goes in hunt for a leveller.

63' We feel you, RB Twitter admin...

56' WHAT A MISS! (0-1)

Oh Ademola Lookman... he won't want to see that again. It was easier to score, but Lookman pokes the looping ball wide. Criminal.

55' Poulsen goes close (0-1)

Werner wins the ball back in a dangerous position and finds Poulsen, who drags his effort wide.

52' Chance! (0-1)

Marcel Halstenburg unleashes a vicious shot from distance, but Schwolowis equal to it and pushes it aside.

Back underway! (0-1)

We're back underway for the second half in Leipzig. The home side will need to improve.

HALF TIME: RB Leipzig 0-1 SC Freiburg

It's half time in Leipzig. Manuel Gulde's faint touch has the away side ahead at the break in Saxony.

44' Almost two for Freiburg! (0-1)

Leipzig all over the place at the back. The ball is looped over to Christian Günther who blasts it across the face of goal and wide.

34' Goal awarded to Gulde (0-1)

Freiburg's opener has been credited to Manuel Gulde - that is his first Bundesliga goal of the season!

34' GOAL! Freiburg are ahead! (0-1)

Freiburg get a corner and Leipzig mark poorly. Vincenzo Grifo with a cheeky flick with his heel to direct the ball past Gulacsi. It may have taken a nick off Manuel Gulde on the way through, too. That wasn't in the script!

30' Chance! (0-0)

Werner tees up Kevin Kampl who smashes the ball towards goal from 18 yards, but his effort is deflected wide by Robin Koch. Leipzig knocking on the door, but no breakthrough yet.

24' Booking (0-0)

Roland Sallai is first in the book for Freiburg after a high boot on Yussuf Poulsen.

14' Werner looks dangerous (0-0)

Peter Gulacsi launches a ball upfield which Werner knocks down and bursts through the Freiburg half. His effort is then saved by Schwolow with Laimer unable to turn in the rebound.

8' Chance for RB! (0-0)

A free kick is whipped in and cleared out as far as Tyler Adams, who forces Alexander Schwolow into a low save down to his left.

2' Close! (0-0)

RB's Konrad Laimer fires just wide of the left hand post. Inches away from the opener.

KICK OFF! (0-0)

THE BUNDESLIGA. IS. BACK! Freiburg get us underway.

The teams are out!

The two sides are ready to go at an eerily quiet Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. RB could go second with a win, while Freiburg could jump to sixth if they are victorious. No formalities and no handshakes, but we're ready to go.

Kick off just fifteen minutes away!

We're just a quarter of an hour away from the restart of the Bundesliga after a two month hiatus, and I can't wait!

Preparation has been difficult - Nagelsmann

"Preparing for this game has been very tough, as we can't analyse any recent Freiburg games," Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann told dierotenbullen.com

"They are in the same boat though, so neither side has an advantage here. There will probably be more changes made during the game than normal."

Current Bundesliga table

A glance at the table shows how important today’s game is for both of the sides in their respective seasons.

The top-half of the division has split into two distinct packs, one aiming for Champions League, and one for Europa League. Leipzig are at the top-end of the former, and can’t afford to drop any points in the title charge. Freiburg are within touching distance of a Europa League spot.

Ghost games not without controversy

Today's game will of course take place  behind closed doors.

Although many around the world have been supportive of the return of football, it has divided opinion between supporters.

An opinion poll from German outlet Sportschau yesterday revealed that only 31% of the public in the country supported the return of the league, with 56% opposing it.

Nagelsmann: "We'd prefer the fans were there."

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, RB chief Julian Nagelsmann said he'd rather the fans were in the arena to watch his side.

"We’d all prefer the fans to be there, for the emotion to be there. That’s what makes football so great. Now it’s gone. We need to push ourselves from within and self-motivate.”

"We want to play football." - Streich

Freiburg boss Christian Streich spoke to the press ahead of the game.

"We all agreed because we all want to play football. This is our job and what we love. We shouldn't talk too much, let the politicians and the task force work. We have to deal with the situation as best we can. "

Freiburg Predicted Line-Up

Schwolow, Gulde, Koch, Heintz, Schmid, Haberer, Höfler, Günter, Waldschmid, Petersen, Grifo.

Leipzig Predicted Line-Up

Gulacsi, Halstenburg, Makiele, Klostermann, Lalma, Tasende, Adams, Sabitzer, Nkunku, Werner, Schick.

Freiburg Team News

The only definite absentee for the visitors is Lukas Kübler, who will be out for another few weeks with a knee injury. Yoric Ravet and Florian Kath are also likely out, but Freiburg boss Christian Streich otherwise has a full complement to choose from.

Leipzig Team News

The rumour mill has been in full flow surrounding Timo Werner and an impending summer move to Liverpool, with the forward expressing his desire to join the Anfield club, but while he is still firmly an RB player he will be keen to push his side towards the title.

Die Roten Bullen have announced that Kevin Kampl should be fit enough to play some part in the match, but Ibrahima Konate is unlikely to feature. Emil Forsberg and Dayot Upamecano are both unavailable, while Marcel Sabitzer and Patrick Schick are touch and go.

Freiburg pushing for Europe

Freiburg have been somewhat of a surprise package this season and have a real chance of qualifying for the Europa League, but with just three wins in 20202 before the hiatus, they will need to improve if they are serious about their European hopes.

One thing Freiburg have been proficient at is set pieces, scoring 10 of their last 14 goals from dead-ball situations, so Nils Petersen - SCF's all time leading scorer - will be hoping to use his height to get back to scoring ways.

Leipzig chasing the title

RB Leipzig host SC Freiburg with the hope of keeping the pressure on the top two and mounting a serious title challenge as the Bundesliga gets back underway.

It could be said that the suspension of the league came at a good to time for the hosts who had only two of their last seven league games leading up to the break.

Despite this, they managed to send a message of intent by dumping Tottenham Hotspur out of the Champions League before the break.

Kick Off Time
