Point guard Elfrid Payton is the Philadelphia 76ers second choice, tenth overall, in the 2014 NBA Draft and has been traded to the Orlando Magic for 12th pick Dario Saric.

The 6'3" played three seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette, where he won the Lefty Driesell Award last year, given to the most outstanding NCAA defensive player, which has also been won by New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis.

He averaged 14.3 points in his three years for the Ragin' Cajuns, as well as averaging 19.2 points last season as the college went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to third seed Creighton, 76-66.

In his 100 NCAA games, Payton averaged 4.9 assists per game and shot a superb 49% from the field, although a trade was always likely as staying in Philadelphia would mean starting on the bench behind current Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams.

And with Orlando Magic trading away Arron Afflalo to the Denver Nuggets for Evan Fournier and the 56th pick in the Draft, the Florida side were in need of a point guard.

In return, the 76ers received Croatian power forward Dario Saric, who moved to the NBA following five years playing in Croatia.
