Spencer Hawes has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers on a four year, $23 million deal according to Yahoo!. The final year of the deal is a player option.

Hawes split the 2013-14 season between the Philadephia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the 80 games he played last season Hawes averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Hawes can stretch the floor with his unique skill set and pass the ball very well for his size. He is practically a walking double-double.

Los Angeles has now found its missing link, a third big man and one who can light it up from beyond the arc (41.6% last season), play the post well, and rebound. Hawes lacks speed which means he can only play center, but with his great shooting skills he can play a third option and go in for either Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan when breathers are needed.

Hawes is only 26 years old and is well into his prime which is always a plus. He has failed to make the postseason in 5 of his 7 years in the league and has made it clear he wants to play on a contender and have opportunities to win championships. He will have exactly that with the Clippers.
