It was announced earlier today (Tuesday) that LaMarcus Aldridge plans to turn down the Blazers' offer for a contract extension this summer, looking for a bigger contract next year. He has stated that it makes more financial sense to sign next season, when he is officially a costless agent, to sign a 5 year 108 million maximum contract.
Aldridge stated that "I'm happy to stay (in Portland), happy to be here, happy with the direction that the team has gone in the last year or 2. But I just want to get a 5 year deal. I feel like thats the best decision on my part."
He also stated one of his goals: "I want to be the best Blazer. Ever."
So, Blazer fans can rest easy, for now. Providing that next season isn't a bust for the team, it seems that Aldridge is committed to a career with the Portland Trail Blazers.
