The injury riddled Oklahoma City Thunder are set to sign Ish Smith using the hardship exception, reports Oklahoma City Thunder beat writer, Darnell Mayberry. Smith is undergoing his physical with the team and could be in uniform on Friday.

Teams qualify for the hardship exception if four of their players are out for two-plus weeks. For the Thunder, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Mitch McGary, and Anthony Morrow are all out for more than two weeks.

In addition to those players, Grant Jerrett, Andre Roberson, Jeremy Lamb, and Perry Jones are injured as well. Perry Jones injured himself Tuesday night against the Toronto Raptors. He has been diagnosed with a knee contusion. Andre Roberson hurt his foot Monday in Brooklyn and did not play on Tuesday. After Jones went down with his injury Tuesday, the Thunder was left with seven healthy bodies.

Ish Smith has been around for four years and has played for six different teams. He has averaged 2.9 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per game throughout his career.

Adding an extra body will certainly help the Thunder. They have been shorthanded all season long and are off to a 1-4 start.
