For New Orleans, nine-year pro CJ McCollum emerged as one of the league's top trade selections during the season. The 30-year-old, arguably the best NBA player ever to receive an All-Star Game nomination, averaged 24.5 points in his first 20 games after the All-Star Game break.

San Antonio's Dejounte Murray made his first All-Star Game appearance in his fifth professional season and was at his best twice against New Orleans, recording triple-doubles in wins on Dec. 12 and March 26 for the Spurs.

The Pelicans also rely heavily on youth, including three rookie members of the rotation and a third-year starting power forward.

Unlike many Spurs rosters in recent decades, this edition does not feature a collection of future Hall of Famers or multiple-time All-Stars, and none of its top three scorers is over 26 years old.

The San Antonio Spurs have the opportunity to improve their season in the Play-In tournament, the Spurs had a complicated regular season with a very bad start, however it was in the last few weeks when the team managed to rebound positions since in the middle of the season they were not seen with clear possibilities of achieving a Play-In qualification.
