After a stellar showcase by Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo down the stretch against the division rival New York Giants, the Cowboys face another familiar foe in week two, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys are the only sole team in the NFC East with a win in week one, and they look to tack on another win Sunday afternoon. Aside from Romo’s heroics, the biggest news came from the Dallas side was their star wide receiver, and recently paid, Dez Bryant had fractured his foot and is out for some time. Rookie Randy Gregory is also expected to miss some time with a high ankle sprain. The Cowboys will have their hands full on Sunday, and it is especially bad due to an already injury depleted roster.

Cowboys Offense

As mentioned before, Dez Bryant is out for some time, which means there are big shoes to fill. Terrance Williams will be the number one receiver for the Cowboys moving forward, expect the Eagles' defense to pay heavy attention on the quick runner. If you look back at what Dallas did against the Giants, you should expect to see more of that offensively. Packages and short passes for short yardage will be the key to their success against the Eagles. Lance Dunbar, who was probably the most important receiver down the stretch for the Cowboys in the last second’s game win, will be the primary running back on the field. The Cowboys may possibly increase Gavin Escobar’s role as well, running a two tight end formation alongside with Jason Witten, which could pay off especially in blocking for the running game and in slant routes. As for the running game, Joseph Randle will get a heavy load. Some may recall Randle’s early comments about DeMarco Murray's saying, "Lots of meat left on the bone." Safe to say, he probably had this game circled a while ago.

Cowboys Defense

Holding Odell Beckham Jr. to only 44 yards last week, Cowboys will be looking to repeat the same type of performance. Eagles are known for their high tempo offense, the key for the Cowboys defense is to force turnovers and quick three and outs. The longer the defense stays on the field, the harder it is to slow down Philly’s offense. Rod Marinelli’s defense preaches turnovers, but the Cowboys did not have any turnovers go their way last week, and that's the key this week. Eagles' quarterback Sam Bradford had two interceptions in their Monday night loss, so the Cowboys defensive front will be look to add the pressure for sure. Recently paid Tyrone Crawford will be a name to look out for the Cowboys, as well as Ryan Russell. Russell is filling in for Randy Gregory's spot.

Keys to win the game

Just as last week, for the Cowboys to come up top, they’ll have to dominate the clock. Keeping the Eagles offense on the sidelines, will only benefit the Cowboys defensive unit. In order for that to happen, the Cowboys running game needs to be in sync and that relies heavy on their offensive line, just like they did in pass protection last week throughout the game.

Prediction

It’ll be a battle for sure, as games between the Cowboys and Eagles games are always competitive. Cowboys have won nine straight road games and haven’t lost at Lincoln Financial Field since 2011, and on Sunday they’ll add one more to each winning streak. That's because Sam Bradford is still learning the new system, so he will struggle early in this divisional matchup. The Cowboys defense has improved since last year and they’ll leave a mark, but the Eagles will give them a fight. The Cowboys secondary will have problems guarding Jordan Matthews and the elusive Darren Sproles. Expect a good running back battle between Randle and Murray as well. Ultimately, it’ll come down to Romo and the Dallas offensive line leading the Cowboys to another win.

Final Score: Cowboys 30, Eagles 24
